A Question Of Defending The 3?

Postby TimX5 on Mon Jan 10, 2005 7:30 pm

Hi, I've been playing NBA Live since its induction in 95, I even played NBA Showdown 94, if anyone has heard of the 94 phenomenom by EA sports. Anyway, I consider myself to have a fairly good knowledge of basketball in general and quite an extensive knowledge of NBA Live gameplay. Since owning the 2005 edition i've enjoyed the new features bla bla bla, but as time has wore on, I am noticing that the gameplay is a nightmare, it just sucks! WHY THE F%$K can't you win a game by more than 5? It is an impossibility! I mean, my brother, a lakers fan, usually wins, but manages to win by more than this margin occaisionally, but hey, he's a computer wiz, he might have that on me. Today I was playing Houston with the funfilled stat snarring Phoenix Suns, I had a 23 point lead midway through the 3rd, I lost the game by 6, how is this possible? I know it happens occaisionally in real life, sure, I can deal with losing a huge lead and losing, I can, but it happens every game! I play on Superstar, I (used) to play with normalised/fair settings, but I've gotten to the point of trying to advantage myself and it doesn't work. Is there a "keep scores close" option that I don't know about that is switched on? OR is it just that the 2005 edition of NBA is just too hard for me?

Yours in frustration,

TimX5

No I dont share your problem. I had such in 2003 if I remember right (or 2001). Have been playing Live since 99, and have been married to nba since 92. In live Ive more than once lost the game with 20, but also have won the game with 20 occasionally. Usually easy games are 10 or so though, since when Im ahead Im not trying that hard anymore and let my role players play a bit more. Ive also been down by grat margin and have come back up, and vice versa. THe game has a neat thing called initiative, or something, that can get your team hot. If you cant stop something like that with dunks or blocks of your own, then youre in deep shiet. Usually Id suggest your top scorers trying about three baskets in a row to loosen the enemy heat a bit.

But no, this isnt an issue at all and Im loving Live 2005. EA's sports games are in the good hands, FIFA 05 also improved good between the season and hopefully itll be better by next year.

I have blown teams out by 30 in the hardest setting. I think its just you. Work on your defense skills. Guard the man with the ball, always stay in his face and put in your big men with high defensive ratings when you start to lose your lead.
