Everything was fine until I updated DirectX until I updated my Nvidia GEForce 4200 with the latest drivers.
Now once the game starts, the screen flickers and no setting - VSync, different refresh rates, matching win refresh rate with game refresh rate - nothing stops the flicker.

try switching back to older drivers. nvidia's newer drivers only focus on improving performance on the current generation of graf.cards. If your old driver works fine, don't update it since you will get no extra performance from it.

The new driver makes Battle for Middle Earth much smoother, but makes NBA Live 2005 flicker.

that sux. maybe you could choose your fav. game for the moment and try newest drivers when another update comes out.
