SETTING UP PLAYCALLING ON THE PC

Postby nbkid on Sun Nov 14, 2004 11:22 am

okay here's how I figured it out:

In the CONFIGURE CONTROLLER screen (whether in an actual game or not), by default it reads:

Quickplays
D-pad up 1
D-pad down 2
D-pad left 3
D-pad right 4

DO NOT CHANGE THIS. I've found when this is tampered with, it messess everything up.

When you are in the game, under SETTINGS, PLAYBOOK, OFFENSIVE PLAYBOOK, by default it reads:

Isolation 1
Post Up 2
Pick and Roll 3
Basket Cut 4

THIS IS WHERE CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE. You would think that the numbers here (1-4) would correspond with the numbers in the Quickplays section, BUT THEY DON'T. Isolation (1) does NOT equal D-pad up (1). I've learned NOT to change the ones in Quickplays section, rather the ones in the PLAYBOOK section (which goes for both Offensive and Defensive playbooks). So, what movements (i.e., D-pad up, down, etc.) do the ones in the playbook refer to? Here's what I've found, which are pretty much set in stone:

Isolation 1 = D-pad LEFT
Post Up 2 = D-pad DOWN
Pick and Roll 3 = D-pad RIGHT
Basket Cut 4 = D-pad UP

It seems to me that it doesn't matter how you set it up in the Quickplays section, it won't map properly with the numbers in the Playbook section. So, let's say you want isolation to be D-pad DOWN. You would go into the Playbook section (once you enter a game, b/c this screen is only available within a game) and change Post Up to Isolation.

Mind you, please note that I use the Thrustmaster Firestorm Analog 3 gamepad. I can only comment for this gamepad, as I don't know if using other gamepads have a similar issue. All I know is that this works for this gamepad. If you've found another way that works for you, good stuff. Hope that helps - please let me know if you have any q's.

I'm only going from memory, but the order of the plays is from top to bottom. Isolation is on top, because it's quickplay 1, and the rest going down are 2, 3, and 4. To get the quickplay to the right button, you have to change the correct play. For example if you want stagger to be quickplay 1 you would change isolation. The numbers after certain plays (like 1-4 high 1, 2, 3, stagger 1, 2, 3,) are just what 'set' to use in that play.

I don't understand what are you saying there. First off, I can't set up any plays. I have to play the game without the possibility to call pick and rolls, or whatever you can think off. If I press the TIMEOUT button (or playcalling) and move the D-Pad, it moves the player and when I release the playcalling button it just calls a timeout. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING (I am talking about the PC Version of course).

Why can' I set the plays like in Live 2004 (for example - playcalling button hold - then rebound button is pick-and-roll, steal is isolation etc.). What is wrong with this. How can I make this work? This is my biggest problem of Live 2005. The rest is excellent.

cpu vs cpu

Postby jaredsox on Tue Dec 14, 2004 12:34 am

does the play-calling order affect CPU vs CPU.? In other words, if I change the order would it make a difference in the game?

I can do set plays with my d-pad, even though ( as mentioned in the original post ) it doesn't always map correctly. My biggest gripe is not being able to save the set plays.

Nothing changed after i modified the quickplay's setting. It's still to call a time out & international foul when i hold the playcalling + 1/2/3 button.
The game make me angry now! I know it have those functions but i can't use it. WTF! :furious: :furious:
