okay here's how I figured it out:
In the CONFIGURE CONTROLLER screen (whether in an actual game or not), by default it reads:
Quickplays
D-pad up 1
D-pad down 2
D-pad left 3
D-pad right 4
DO NOT CHANGE THIS. I've found when this is tampered with, it messess everything up.
When you are in the game, under SETTINGS, PLAYBOOK, OFFENSIVE PLAYBOOK, by default it reads:
Isolation 1
Post Up 2
Pick and Roll 3
Basket Cut 4
THIS IS WHERE CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE. You would think that the numbers here (1-4) would correspond with the numbers in the Quickplays section, BUT THEY DON'T. Isolation (1) does NOT equal D-pad up (1). I've learned NOT to change the ones in Quickplays section, rather the ones in the PLAYBOOK section (which goes for both Offensive and Defensive playbooks). So, what movements (i.e., D-pad up, down, etc.) do the ones in the playbook refer to? Here's what I've found, which are pretty much set in stone:
Isolation 1 = D-pad LEFT
Post Up 2 = D-pad DOWN
Pick and Roll 3 = D-pad RIGHT
Basket Cut 4 = D-pad UP
It seems to me that it doesn't matter how you set it up in the Quickplays section, it won't map properly with the numbers in the Playbook section. So, let's say you want isolation to be D-pad DOWN. You would go into the Playbook section (once you enter a game, b/c this screen is only available within a game) and change Post Up to Isolation.
Mind you, please note that I use the Thrustmaster Firestorm Analog 3 gamepad. I can only comment for this gamepad, as I don't know if using other gamepads have a similar issue. All I know is that this works for this gamepad. If you've found another way that works for you, good stuff. Hope that helps - please let me know if you have any q's.
