Im really trying to love this game, but one aspect of it is just getting on my nerves. The ridiculous blocks jsut spoil it for me. I literally got a headache betting T-mac blocked 13 times by Rip Hamilton. Ok, I know Detroit is a good defensive team but this guy is getting up of the ground ( while back pedalling) and blocking fade aways! How many people in the league can block a fade away? much less T-macs jumper (13times). I will admit 2005 is better that 2004 , but the block party is giving me a migraine.

The blocks are truly a bad thing. I player lock and I've noticed that when I 'call for the shot' only when it's absolutely necessary then my blocks are waaay down. I just let my team mates make their own decisions unless they are about to do something stupid.

If you are controlling every position on your team blocks should not be an issue at all. Now, I will admit that sometimes you can bring a guy off a screen and the guy that got screened can still make the block. That ticks me off but it doesn't happen very often at all.

Even if you take smart shots. For example, I was Rip Hamilton and I had a wide, wide open shot with nobody even close to me, and Chris Kaman came out of nowhere and blocked me. That's impossible in real life. And besides, when you're on defense and your CPU teammates (like Tayshaun Prince) blocks the computer all the time is something you can't control.

Taking better shots will help sometimes, but rip isnt much of a shot blocker. 13 blocks on McGrady is crazy. Would never happen. Someone mentioned this as a possible fix though, lowering the block attribute 5-10 on every player in the game, and seeing what happens. Havent done it myself yet, it could help a bit. :)

I swear to god another center chases me down on the break to pull a tayshaun Ill break my monitor. :evil:

can't tell for live 2005 cause i don't have it yet... but live 2000 had the same problem... so i lowered by 15 the block rating for EVERY player... the same for the rating steal..... combinig with others adjustment, it changed the whole game for me, i still play it for christsake !! ;-)

Try to change the "BLKABILITY" in the players.dbf.
You can use excel or a simple dbf editor.


I lower the block. example: alan henderson has 34 : I changed it to: 34*0,6.

Tip: Increase the FG% sliders for USER and release your shots quicker.

It doesn't help a lot but it makes sure your opponent doesn't block you too much.

No, it doesn't. I have both the USER and CPU shot-block and dunk/layup-block to 0. For some reason my player (when I'm not controller him) can get up to 15 blocks a game. Same with my opponent. I bet you the EA programmed the sliders half-assed.

yes you can, i use excel too. if it gives a message like "players.dbf may not be compatible bla bla bla" just choose the yes option.

Sliders first! Adjust sliders before messing around with editing players. Editing players will adjust simulated stats in the dynasty or season mode.

Also, only take jumpshots when you are angled away from the help defense. If you run pick n roll for instance the big guy defender will help out if you try to stick the jumper right after the screen. Either delay a second or go around the pick wide and find open space.

On stand still J's a pump fake never hurt anybody.
