Hall of Famer Comparison Tool for your Team MVP?(PC)

Postby HonorGlow on Thu Oct 28, 2004 3:54 am

Alright! For you Dynasty players and also Online-leaguers! Here's the tool to convert your Box Score or Player Stat files to the NBA.com Efficiency Rating and Birdie Score!

ALSO, if you convert your Player Stat file, it'll use the Birdies?Minute rating to match your Team MVP with a Hall of Famer... check it out and you'll see what I mean.

Again, if anybody runs into any errors or mishaps, please send me your boxscore textfile @ honorglow@livedynasty.com

:?: I still need to tighten down the code...but does anybody have any web design skills to make the summary page more visually pleasing?!?!

Yeh PRoPuLsiOnDJ, that's pretty significantly different from 2004...at least the gamestat file!

NOTE to ALL: I'll working on coding this weekend so you can have an NBA.com efficiency tool hopefully by Monday.

Request to ALL: Can anybody send me the equivalent of the season 'pstat file' within Dynasty mode? Really really would appreciate it.

Man, I hope my copy comes on Monday...

You mean, http://www.livedynasty.com/birdiefly.html? It seemed to work fine for me...perhaps just going to http://www.livedynasty.com and selecting Birdie formula v.2004 may work...let me know if anybody else has that problem...or if it DOES work!

Thanks Donatello for your feedback.

ALLRIGHT! After a good time of frustration and debugging...I got a in-progress working version to find out your NBA.com Efficiency Rating!

:!: Read the first post to get the form link.

I'm a bit pooped in the brain right now. Please try it out and let know what you think. I hope this is useful for some people...especially the Dynasty and Tournament players.

...okay feedback feedback feedback.

I think I have an idea on how to make the results a bit more visually appealing...but if anybody wants to take a stab at that, I'm game!

HuskiesCeltics, thanks for your interest! I have in my hands my copy of '05 that just arrived five minutes ago...so I'll answer your question in a bit later. Now that I can put some games under my belt, I will go ahead and rework the code so you can also, check the NBA eff.rating anytime during the season...

Has anybody tried the boxscore to NBA.com eff tool yet? Besides of course Donatello...

Hey Donatello, sorry about that, I'll go ahead and give a complete explanation where to find the bxscr file when I get home. In the mean time, you can compare your team MVP with the great ones:

Center Wilt Chamberlain 1961-62 Birdie Efficiency Score: 50.84
P.Forward: Charles Barkley 1988-89 Birdie Efficiency Score: 29.36
S.Forward: Larry Bird 1984-85 Birdie Efficiency Score: 31.70
P.Guard: Magic Johnson 1986-87 Birdie Efficiency Score: 29.74
S.Guard: Michael Jordan 1988-89 Birdie Efficiency Score: 33.92

If you run the boxscore tool and see that your Team MVP is floating around this score, more than likely, you have a well-balanced MVP!

Coding for the pstat season file should be done by the end of the weekend. ANybody else have any suggestions or ideas on how to better use the Birdie/NBA.com efficiency rating to benefit the dynasties?

I have a load of ideas in my head, just need to take the time and code it.

Well…thanks for the compliments…however, did it work for you, HuskiesCeltics? I spent until 1am coding for the season stat tool so that should be ready by Friday night. Donatello, did you ever get my e-mail?

Okay I'm scratching my head...HuskiesCeltics and PropulsionDJ, how and where in the world did you find the boxscore text files. I searched for them and yup couldn't find it. I basically made the application tool via the data that Propulsion DJ made.

UPDATE:
The "Season stats to NBA eff/Birdie rating" tool(the tool that'll utilize your pstat file) should be out by Saturday in a working beta format. Right now it does work, but I'm adding a special feature on it that hopefully will prove to make the tool a bit more meaningful. Stay tune!

it's in this directory:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\NBA LIVE 2005\gamestats\bxscr000.txt"

I took a screenshot of the results, so everyone can see exactly what this tool produces:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/joshuamc17/livedynasty.jpg

if your browser automatically shrinks images to fit the screen, it will look like hell, so be sure and zoom in if that happens

Thanks to the wonderful member doing the stats system in my online league, we get efficiency ratings for every game. Had the feature for the 2nd season, and its pretty interesting.

When you view a boxscore, in dynasty atleast, click the save button and it saves the box score.
