Patches get ready, because judging by these pics..I'm gonna need a A LOT of new shoes!

I cant beleive EA was that lazy to keep shoes from last year that no one is goinng to wear this year.

Agreed. When I saw that I thought to myself "that is the prettiest jump shot I have ever seen in Live or any game. His body looks real, not like he's just flinging it up there, good form. I think I might shoot a lot of jumpers just to look cool, even if they don't go in  .

Geez, do people really care that much about freakin' shoes? There are so many better things EA could be spending their time working on in this game than putting in realistic, custom shoes. I never understood why Live fans (or ESPN fans, for that matter) make such a big deal about the shoes in the game.

Shoes define players in basketball. They're a big part of the game.

It would look fucked up if Michael Jordan wore Adidas or Reebok.

There's one small thing that always annoyed me - why is the freethrow-shooters direct counterpart always blocking him out? I mean, wouldn't Vlade be under the basket in real-life instead, with George or Caron Butler, or maybe even Odom blocking out Yao?

How can you even tell what kind of shoes they're wearing? It's like 5 pixels or something.

If it were up to me, I'd just make everyone wear generic shoes. Screw it. They're spending too much time worrying about trivial crap like apparel and not focusing on actual gameplay issues.

Shoes don't take a lot of space. That's what they have graphic artists for, to make and improve the art in the game.

A fair portion of the NBA's fans are shoe fiends. Since an early age I have been obsessed with basketball shoes. And like durvasa said, shoes do define players. They do only take up a small portion of the screen, but when I see Jordan wearing the 11's I know that all is right in the world. If you've always cared about shoes, seeing the correct shoes in NBA Live is a great feeling. It Adds more realism then you'd think, honestly.

As an NBA fan who couldn't care less about name brand shoes, I just don't get it. I never pay attention to player's shoes on the court. I actually find the whole athletic footwear industry exploitive and extremely superficial; I've always had an aversion to those overproduced Nike and Reebock commercials.

As I said above, if it were up to me, I'd only include generic no-name shoes. You'd have white shoes, black shoes, red shoes, and maybe some with stripes or something. And that 500 lines of code or whatever that it would have taken to put in the custom, name-brand shoes, I'd instead divert that work towards getting the announcers to say a created player's last name. Hehe. That would rule.

And I'd laugh at all you shoe whores when you whine about it.

I kid, of course. I'd merely grin. :)

I'm split on the issue here, on one side I do see how superficial the issue is. I mean after all theyre just shoes persay. Michael Jordan made Nike, I don't think i'd get much argument on that. One player wearing a certain brand's shoe made them into the company they are today. Ingame i'm greatful that theyre able to be patched. I don't think there is anything cooler then be able to create you and put all your exact gear that you wear in real life on your PC counterpart. From the bands to the shorts to the shoes you can do it all. In the same respect you can make your team look as close as possible to the way they do in real life. Home shoes away shoes whatever it adds to the realism. Quality wise, take a look at Steve's shoes. EA should higher him just to do shoes. Anyways just thought I'd throw in my two cents on the topic. Live is comin I know you hear the footsteps....
