faked out defenders recover too quickly

Been trying out the freestyle and I can fake out the defender pretty consistently using Iverson but they recover too damn quickly. Played a game where i called a pick for Ai and got Nestorovic on him and faked his ass out to the left but as soon as I start Right the Big Immobile center is right back in front of me , Im not quite use to this game yet so if anyone has some tips as to what to do differently to abuse mismatches let me know because freestyle isn't getting me open much even against slower defenders.
