What is the best PC controller to use for freestyle?

I'll take any and all suggestions....list price too if you know it.

Like ShortThug mentioned, the Logitech Dual Action is great for performance and budget. I got it last week and it is awesome. Very precise and comfortable.

I really like Gravis's Eliminator Aftershock.

I use the Logitech cordless rumblepad which I got for my birthday... works great for NBA Live 2003 and other games too.. The only beef I have with it is the Dpad, its kind of unresponsize unless you hit it in the right spot (which I'm used to now anyway!) Great gamepad, cordless, force feedback.

I have the Thrustmaster Dual Analog Power 2 and the regular Thrustmaster Dual Analog. Both perform great in NBA Live 2003 and Madden 2004. The Directional pad works great too. I purchased them from CompUSA for $29.99 and $19.99 respectively

Neither. Some people are more comfortable with the PS2 controllers, while others are more comfortable with PC controllers. In my case, I have a Dual Action for the PC but it is designed just like the PS2 controller. Some people have an adapter for PS2 controllers so they can play on the PC. It just goes for personal preference.

I used a thrustmaster firestorm for most of my games up until latley. then i purchased a adapter which lets u use a Playstation controller on the PC. i use that now cause its smaller. it also only cost $30 australian dollars, when the firestorm was like $60.

I have a Logitech Wingman Rumblepad...you know how you push the analog sticks down as a button...does anybody know if this controller has them? i hope it does, but i'm not sure, cos i've never had to use them. it doesn't feel like a button when i push it down, but it could be possible.

i am sorry to disappoint you.

The sticks CANNOT act like those in PS2 gamepad.
It means that you cannot even press them, or else it will be broken (if you keep trying to press them )

the best controller out of there is the PS2 and pS1.

I use the Thrustmaster Dual ANalog 3 too, and it really rocks because of the additional shoulder buttons (you have 6, two additional ones at the bottom of the pad) and the ability to also press the analog sticks (much like the PS2 pads).

One question though, which probably noone can answer for the PC version(maybe Andrew has heard something) - but having it in the PS2 version would be a pretty good indicator:
Can you freely assign the buttons, or are we doomed to use one preset button setup? (my main concern is the PC version as this will be the one I am getting) FIFA2004 only has one preset button setup, and this sucks! (the community is already working on a setup tool, though, so there is hope).

No, that was one of the drawbacks of this gamepad... however it has those extra 2 buttons (cordless verson anyway) on the right , unlike the PS2 which has 4, so i hope that makes up for the lack of joysticky pushy down buttons.

Personally, I love it. Not only the design is sleek, but it's comfortable and the analog sticks are very nice. I can tell you that it's very precise, and even though I don't use it, but the analog sticks (if you push down on them) act as buttons as well. For the price, it's a great controller.
