Just finished a game against the new look Mavericks

Postby SuperFlash on Tue Oct 21, 2003 2:00 pm

I played with the Celtics and lost 119 - 98. Paul Pierce went for 41 pts (11-11 ft), Raef LaFrentz went for 16 pts and 12 Rebs, and Vin Baker is a pile of crap. It was a pretty close game until the end of the 3rd Qtr. Mike Finley went for 27 pts, Jamison went for 22, and Dirk had 19 pts. Walker had 8 pts (3-9 fg, 0-3 3's), 8 reb, and 7 ast. Tony Delk and Travis Best combine for 25 pts and 9 ast. Nash had 15 pts and 11 ast.

This Live is the best ever made as far as gameplay and simulation is concerned. I understand about the Pro-Hop being over use be the computer, but its not a big deal if you get in front of them and help on defense. Dallas had 28 fast break points mostly because I couldn't always shoot with Pierce. This was 9 minute Qtrs. I found myself getting frustrated becasue they would score on the break and I would try and score just as fast just to see myself miss the shot and watch score on the break again.

You gotten stay in the game plan of your team.

I played against the Mavs last night too and was really frustrated with the amount of fast breaks they had. Jamison was killing me!

Besides scoring on every posession, any ideas on how to get back on defense faster or to calm their fast break down? Is there something in the playbook that might be handy? I'm not sure if it works (I don't notice a big difference), but I turn off "Crash Boards" so my defenders aren't busy getting rebounds and instead are hopefully getting back on D. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks!

In real life you can stop the break by running back like hell or by getting in the face of the guy who would pass the ball up so he can't have a good look to where to pass to. Those are basically the ways of stopping a fast break.

Don't know how it will work in the game, cause us PC guys don't have the game yet. And us finnish PC guys will have to wait a lot longer still.

I glad that you are enjoying the game.

There one thing people do on the game and I do it to. When you shoot you always wait to see if it goes in. Don't do that, if your playing a running team get back after you shoot. you have four other players trying to get rebounds. You need to have crash boards on.

There's one sure fire way to slow down the break, offensive rebounds.

Don't change your team style unless you have the personnel. With Boston I should have slowed it down a lot more. I just got caught in the running. And I took to many shots with Vin Baker (4-15 fg), I thought he could hit a hook shot.

I play on All-Star and the computer looks to burn you at every chance it can.

somebody in another thread said to stop fast-breaks:
-crash boards off
-zone defense quickplay

been playing dynasty mode w/ the Rockets in all-star mode on a default slider and the computer can't beat me so i got bored and turn to superstar mode in default slider, man i'm frustrated cause i can't beat the hell out of the computer. So I set the shooting percentage, dunk, layup, etc. to 47 of cpu, now when i'm playing in my homecourt sometimes i beat the cpu or the cpu beat me by a close margin but when I'm in a road game, I still can't beat the computer. Maybe I have to lower again the shooting of the cpu. But I still think this game is the best basketball game out there.

I've played against the Raptors in a 8 minutes quar. and I defeated them by 4 points(104-100) in their homecourt in Superstar mode w/ the cpu shooting is set to 47(default is 50)VC scored 28 points on 3 out of 7 3 points shooting w/ only one tomahawk dunk because i've played tough defense on him ( a created player defends him w/ 84 overall rating) and i'm double teaming him sometimes. Vince fielgoal shooting percentage after the game is 46%. I've discovered a tough defense on the cpu, just push them out of the paint, just stick the right anlaog down and push them out of the paint to prevent them from hopping in the paint. But I still having a hard time depending the low post player w/out double teaming them.
