A possible reason why Nba live 2004 for pc is delayed

Fri Oct 17, 2003 5:06 pm

I was playing nba live 2003 like 3 minutes aso now 4 ...anyways and i had to use my sidewinder because my logitech ran out of batteries ...and i was just practiceing and then i kept dunking and i was like fuck this is get ignoreing and then i was like wouldnt it be nice to have a dunk and layup button ...then i remembered that nba live 2004 had this option then i looked down to controller ....and its a 6 button controller ...maybe ea realized that not everyone has logitech game pad ..(like me ) and that some controllers dont support the analog ...so there for you have to use dribble button then spin move etc....maybe they are trying to incorperate the lay up and dunk button so that the option can be used by everyone ...anyways it seemed like something to post when its 3:00am in the morning ...anywas post what y'all like im out ...

umm..no.

I don't think EA cares whether or not people have dual analog pads or not. Besides, incorporating one more button into the game does not require an extra month of coding.

I still think the reason it's delayed is simply cuz they rushed to get the consoles out first and are now finally working to finish off the pc version. The PC market is  to them.

I don't know...I think Ghetto Player may have point, but then again, most people would just go ahead and buy a controller with Sticks. Good assumption though Ghetto

What I hope they are working on is the few glitches there are in the game and fixing them if they can be easily fixed.

I'm thinking that they are working on the User Interface for the PC... Doing the sliders and all more appropriate or maybe even doing a resolution upgrade for the UI so we can see more on our screens when looking at long lists for example... We could actually see 10 players in the fantasy draft screen rather then the 5-6 in Live 2003. And we might get something to fix the bar problem with Live 2003 when going over some of the longer lists.

I'm just hoping that they try to make the game as enjoyable as possible for the PC... And get rid of those console idiocies.

Um ... Ghetto ... this is EA we're talking about. It sounds like it definately was 3:00am in the morning and possibly even a couple of samples of the ol' wacky tabacky thrown in for good measure.

:D

You're a funny guy.

Most likely they're actually starting work on the PC game now that their cash cows have been released.

I think it's probably the rush to get the console versions out first due to arrangements made with the console companies that's causing the pc version to get shafted year after year. BTW, anybody remember when a pc version of Live last came out on time? 'Cause I sure can't!
Also, I think we should petition SEGA to come out with ESPN games for the pc. Or at least we need to petition for some NCAA games for the pc. You would think that the pc would be better equipped to do justice to 300+ teams (and we'd be able to patch the teams & faces).

I'll go out on a limb and say that the reason it is delayed is because of hardware and quality issues and not issues with gameplay. Remember that with the console versions they only have to test on one hardware platform for each console, with the computer you have a couple flavors of major graphics cards that they probably want to target and then a ton of peripherals and hardware configurations that may cause issues.

If they were planning on releasing right after the console or even at the same time with the consoles, they wouldn't pull it out because of "complaints" or "broken issues" with the console versions because they can always just fix that with a patch plus they would have already sent the game off to copy so it would cost an assload to throw those all in the trash and then fix it and send it off again.

This is something that they have known about for at least a couple weeks and never told anyone. However if there is issues with the versions they have released they might have the assets available to fix those issues and maybe even update rosters before they send off the PC for the final copy.

I used to live near Catawba, VA. Used the name for a couple years in a few games.
