Discussion about NBA Live 2004.
Thu Oct 16, 2003 9:19 pm
Hiya,
Im counting down the days.
Wondering..do you guys think that this system will work smoothly with MAX graphic settings etc....
Intel Celeron 2.6ghz
Intel P4PE Motherboard
Kingmax 512mb DDR RAM PC3200
You think this would be good enough for smooth gameplay on MAX graphics?
I didn't include the other details of my PC as those are not relervant I don't think.
I just want a system that will allow me to play Live 2004 in all it's glory, don't need to overkill it hey, the only game I'll be playing is NBA Live 2004 hahaha.
Thanks guys.
Adrian.

You'll need a video card mate.
Thu Oct 16, 2003 11:17 pm
strong enough i think.
but as ReyJ has mentioned, you need a video card- and that aint irrelevant at all. i suggest that you get a 128 MB DDR or better yet, a 256MB DDR video card i.e. GeForce FX5600 or ATI Radeon.

Hiya,
The video I got is Asus Nvidia Ti4200 8X, but of course I don't have the budget to get an 8X motherboard.
Will this combined with the celeron 2.6 be good enough to run Live 2004 on full graphics without any jerks?
NBA on Max is the only way to play
Cheers guys
Adrian.

To be honest I doubt it. I didn't play 2003 on PC, but I know a thing or two about games, and I used to own a ti4200. I would be shocked if you got max settings out of that rig. Sorry bro.

Just to let you know, the celeron isn't made for gaming, its more for spreadsheets and business type stuff it will play games yeah but it isn't a gaming chip.

Hiya,
I would of thought the Celeron being 2.6ghz or 2600mhz would be fast enough to cope with NBA Live 2003.
Other option is to fork out some extra cash and get the Pentium IV 2.4 800FSB, with the Asus P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard, that has 8 speed AGP and my current video is an 8 speed video card.
Thanks for all your info and thoughts hey.
Adrian.

I just bought a copy of Madden 2004, and it works really well on my PC, full graphics and sounds. Smooth gameplay and videos.
I have a Pentium 3 1000 with a Nvidia Ti4200.
If Madden runs smooth, do you think other games such as Live 2004, FIFA 2004 and NHL 2004 will run smooth too?
Adrian.

Your graphics card is still decent, but your cpu has gotta go.
I think you should wait for the demo of Live 2004 and see how well it works cuz nobody really knows how well EA optimized this year (don't get your hopes up). Madden has always run well and it's obvious that team within EA knows what they're doing so don't go by that game to judge performance.

Do you guys can estimate how much money i will have to spend on this system:
CPU -
Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz HT 512K 800MHz Socket 478 CPU BOX
Motherboard -
Asus P4PE-X Intel 845PE Motherboard (FSB800, AGP4X, 5.1 Sound, LAN, USB 2.0 )
Memory - (DDR) -
DDR-RAM 512MB 3200 Samsung Original Memory
Hard Drive -
Westeran Digital 80GB 7200 rpm ATA100 HDD
Video Card -
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB DDR DVI Video Card
I can get this system in something like $835, is it a fair deal ?
And do you think i can get something better than this specific stuff on the internet ?

Is it $835USD?? if so you're getting ripped off.
In Vancouver, BC Canada I can get your specs for $889CAD ($635USD), and that's with a better motherboard.
- Your cpu is fine and is very overclockable.
- Your motherboard is using an old chipset. Get the i865PE chipset. The Asus P4P800-Deluxe is a great one.
- Memory is fine.
- HD is fine as well.
- Graphics card is good, but not GREAT.
Honestly I hope you don't mean USD when you said $835. I can still get it cheaper than $889CAD, since that was just a starting point.

sorry dudes, but Celeron sucks so bad

Yes, i do mean USD.
But i don't live in USA anyway, i live in Israel, and i really need a new computer (I have 16MB video card !) and i think this system will be good for another 3-4 years.
And don't worry, i didn't buy that system, yet.
I'm looking for other prices and stores to buy other system.
I'm doing a research now before i'm buying anything.
Any sites you can suggest to look in ?

That is exactly what I have on my System. except that I have 2 hard drives, the 8- Gb and the other one is 160 GB

celeron is not really made for gaming. i got a P4 2.4b processor, an ASUS P4P800, 512MB ddr and a geforce fx 128mb card, and everything works so smoothly with Madden and other EA sports games.
what can you guys say about AMD Athlon processors with regards to gaming?

Athlon XP's are fine for gaming and perform almost on par with Intel's chips. Throw in the fact they're a lot cheaper, and I would never go for an Intel processor if I don't have a lot of money to throw around. The Athlon XP's also overclock like crazy. The 2500+ easily makes it to the 3000+ mark.
Hey you should have got the 2.4
C, since your motherboard supports the 800mhz FSB.
Sun Oct 19, 2003 11:17 am
With my last PC i wasn't able to play the game (2003) with all max details. My specs were:
P4 2.4Ghz 533Mhz FSB
768 MB DDR RAM 333Mhz
GeForce 4 TI4200 64MB
Intel 875E chipset
My question is, will my new PC with these specs do the job for 2004?
P4 3Ghz 800Mhz FSB
1GB DDR RAM 400Mhz
ATI Radeon 9800 128MB
Intel 875P chipset
Sun Oct 19, 2003 11:19 am
shit you got a lot of money dude!
Anyways, if your system can't do that at 1024x768, I think a lot of ppl will be screaming. Yours is pretty much stacked. I'd kill for your system.
Sun Oct 19, 2003 11:29 am
I'll take that as a yes.
The thing is, with my last PC when I put everything om max (high in some cases) the gameplay wouldn't go smoothly which pissed me off because my specs were great. A month or 2 ago I bought my new one and I really will go mad if I can't play at max with 2004.
Sun Oct 19, 2003 1:01 pm
thats because 2003 wasn't optimised for high end machines

A friend of mine who's literally LOADED bought a new computer from a newly established complany (L). This particular computer he ordered is AMAZING. It features a P4 HT at 3.8 GHz, with one tetrabyte of hardrive, 4 GB of RD Ram, ATI radeon 9800 Pro, THX 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers, 35" LCD (Three hold) monitor, and a WHOLE LOT. I believe it cost him over $6000. The reason he bought it was because of the clockspeed, which is at 3.8 GHz! CRAZY. I guess... when the PC version of NBA LIVE 2004 comes out, I'll try it on his PC.
He is one crazy dude, but very unique.
