Basket & Court Size

Postby Rockwell on Thu Oct 16, 2003 6:54 am

I read a message somewhere that basket and court and looks a little bit too small(or smaller than Live 2003) in Live 2004. Is this true? If yes, does the problem(if this is it) looks quite big?

The problem is it's too small. Just like Live 96 for the Playstation.

If you've ever been to an NBA game the courts aren't that big....I think its a good size...it adds to the overall atmosphere of the arena...IMO....I love this game its the truth.... :D

It's really similar to the 2K series where they jump about 1 foot in the air to dunk. It really takes the excitement out of plays at the rim when they're playing on an 8 1/2 foot rim...

Does the court still seem small after you've adjusted the camera angles and/or zoom settings?

I did a little research by running through my version of 2003 and various NBA clips, and compared them to 2004 video clips. The courts do look kinda small compared to the players, but that might just be due to the camera angle--baseline low and sideline are notoriously bad, even for 2003--and the zoom; that is, maybe the the courts stay the same but the camera zooms in on the players.

I don't know. This is just me hoping that the courts aren't too small. Still, I'm a forgiving man. If they give me solid, balanced gameplay, and an adequate, if not outstanding franchise mode, then I'll buy the game and enjoy it.

All the best,

Eugene

Damn I hate when someone like Kobe goes for a dunk and its only one foot between his foot and the floor.

Excellent. *taps fingers*

I thought the live 2003 courts were a little big. seemed like a marathon to get up the court, i'm glad the courts are smaller. (Y)

Don't you guys remember last year when people were complaning that the courts were too big? What are EA supposed to think? :? "Geeze, we can't get it right..."

I was telling my friend after i played 2004 for the first time that it seems like the rim is too low. I think the size of the players and the court is disproportional but i'm not complaining. I love the game.

yea the court and player ratio is odd...they should have made the players a little smaller...but s'all good....

the only prob this causes is that the players only need to take like 2 dribbles and are in the lane and when on offense its sometimes hard to quickly swing the ball, feed the post or beat the man of the screen b/c when the defender touches you sometimes ur player retreats on the drive and pulls back

also crowds up the middle of the court making it harder to get guards open for mid range jumpers

im watching the dallas - houston game right now and i had my game on....i was trying to compare and the things are:

the players are too big, the court size looks relative but the net is a little too low.....also the players are too fast and can penetrate with too few dribbles.... they also move wayy too quick on defense like the players basically just cover too much ground while moving, crosing over, driving etc....they gotta make everything slower (movement, reaction time, speed, crossovers all dat) ...no one crosses over that fast and its not a game speed thing its just how it is...

their movement while not doing moves is fine though...on offense that is

cause i was watching franchise drive and he did a crossover 4 dribbles, hop step then dished in the middle of the lane...i the game its like cross over, one dribble hop step and ur near the semi circle

and when an opposing player drives many times everyone looks at the basket so if he kicks it back out he can find the pg or someone open from about 18ft in the game he'll be covered like white on rice
