The Live 2004 Interview is a load of of BS

Mon Sep 15, 2003 6:08 am

Come on, are you gonna believe that crap about the player being waived from your team walking out of the locker room, or the rookie draft where the rookies are there when stern announces their pick and the rookies go up to shake his hands? That's the biggest load of crap I've ever seen, and believe me, I've seen huge loads of crap.

If this IS true, then that would be friggin awsome and something totally new and would make Live 2004 the best game ever, if they do those things right.

Mon Sep 15, 2003 6:13 am

I believe it, I mean it's pretty close to the release of the game. They had Stern come out for the Championships last year. I'd be very upset if the game didn't have it. But it's coming from a reliable source and EA is a company that likes to add a lot of bells and whistles. I don't see any reason NOT to believe it.

Mon Sep 15, 2003 6:28 am

why would u not believe it?

Mon Sep 15, 2003 7:10 am

they said that they would on the interview so y would they lie

Mon Sep 15, 2003 7:41 am

ofcourse they would have it, EA wont lie on there fans!

hmmmm if i do remember EA Sports told us about something called classic teams.. 90's Bulls? 80's Celtics and Lakers.... well lets just hope they dont pull something like that again, but i doubt that they are lieing about this because there isnt any lisencing involved. thats why they couldnt have the classic teams.

It all looks good for the outside, looking forward to playing it!

Mon Sep 15, 2003 10:35 am

Yeah why the hell would they lie? That isn't professional and it isn't a rumor, it was said by one of the people at EA.

Mon Sep 15, 2003 12:00 pm

I don't see why EA would lie, especially about putting in a couple of cutscenes. They jumped the gun announcing classic teams before it was certain that feature would be in the game, but that's a different matter involving licensing issues.

They wouldn't lie...in the case of classic teams..they couldn't put it in..but it wasn't a lie. Lying about it is false advertising..and against the law i think.

And you don't think, therefore it must no be true.

i think its true. i saw a clip from nba 2k3 and stern did the whole draft.

relax.

By this time in the production stage they know what's in the game and what's not... They told us that the classic teams were cut a good time before anything final was anywhere to be seen.

Sometimes you have to cut something off of a product if you wish to make a deadline. Or sometimes something just takes too much time and effort to really put it into the game... And thus somethings just get cut and that's just how the process goes.

The Classic teams were something totally extra in my mind. I wouldn't have used it much, so I won't miss it much. And besides, we have all these patchers here, something for them to do as well.

And as it has already been said, it was more of a legal issue then anything else...

stern doing the draft and a player leaving the locker room is totally believeable but on anoother note does anyone know if EA is planning on implementing historic teams in 2005? maybe now that they know wat obstacles that stand in their way and alittle more time that can do it...................jus a thought

Hey havasufalls,
as you know, it's a legal issue rather than a technical issue and not something they can work on just because they have more time.
Legal issue means financial issue.
It's not like putting historic teams in the game is illegal but it would cost EA too much money and hence not profitable. Would the number of extra sales cover all the licensing fees if they include historic teams? I am pretty sure they doubt it. :(

Rather, I think it will be a great idea if they provide us with historic leagues with fake teams and players. Hence we can just patch them in, and they have to pay no licence fees.

classic teams

Tue Sep 16, 2003 5:27 am

yeah I would love the classic teams. I always end up creating them on my own once I get sick of the current teams. Can't you fill in the names on the classic teams in the new Madden?

Tue Sep 16, 2003 5:34 am

You do have the option in Madden to fill out to names on classic teams, which is why i don't understand the problem of putting in ex. SG #23 on a classic bulls team then edit his name.

lol..who cares if its true or not? I mean...its a good feature and all...but why are yall so concerned with "playing house" instead of good gameplay?

The primary concern is gameplay, but it doesn't hurt to discuss the glitz of the game every now and then.

Especially now that there's absolutely jack shit we can do about it. At this point I hope we get all the glitz and glamour we deserve. And if the 2k series is headed into that direction, well EA is probably headed that way too.

Look for some more intelligent cut-scenes in Live 2004. I want to see details on the dynasty and especially the off-season stuff. I have a funny feeling in my tummy about that.

I don't think this interview is BS. Especially about those things thought to be BS. Afterall, this interview is with the head honcho himself. I don't think he'd lie about it in an interview where he knew it was going to be published.
