nba2004 high video that i downloaded(the 17 minute one)

Postby sho89mtx on Sun Aug 31, 2003 2:33 am

First off, I'd like to start off by saying thanks for letting us go someplace and download that awesome video. It gave me a lot of idea of what nba live 2004 will be like this year and i have to say i'm very impressed. Of course the game wasn't even close to being done because you could tell that the commentary would be done by a computer voice which is one of the first things that they do in the game. Also the body collision system was the worst i have ever seen and i pray to god that they really get that fixed because if they don't everyone's review will be; "it's a great attempt at taking the throne from sega this year, but that body collision flaw is just way to hard to ignore to put them over the edge this year".
But this is my biggest gripe while watching the game being played. GET SOME GUYS WHO KNOW HOW TO PLAY THAT GAME TO PLAY IT ON VIDEO! I mean it was pissing me off the way that someone on one-on-one would juke out a guy and then have a wide open lane and not be able to drive and dunk, come on people! Then when they played a real game and the guy would get the rebound with 4 guys wide open for the fast break and he would dribble it up instead of pass to them. Oh my gosh, I thought i was gonna punch a hole in the screen :). Let's put it this way, if i was playing the game u would see every layup, dunk, and jump shot in the game because I play fast break style and I would of shown all the people downloading the video all the new moves, but these people playing it on the video acted like they didn't know what the basic of basketball was. Oh well, other than those things the game rocked and it looks like they are on the right track to take over this year. I just hope that sega doesn't reveal a dunk contest or something crazy like that will set sega over the edge if they improved as much and ea has. Plus I never saw anyone double pump their shot in the game like you can in nba2k3, so I hope that makes it in. If not, EA is just being stubborn because i have a lot of friends that only play nba2k3 because of all the cool shots you can come up with when someone tries to block you and u readjust your shot in midair.
thanks again,
scott

I believe in an earlier post it was confirmed the double pump thingy would be in live 2004.

the clutch in mid air is in the game ...if u watch closely there is a part in the dallas and nets game where jefferson passes to kerry kittles under the basket, he does a double clutch under the basket but misses the shot.

Oh and the game isnt done otherwise we would all have it in our hands. Whatever glaring flaw u see will obviously be corrected (collision detection etc.). chill.

I recall them mentioning that collision detection would be better than ever, so it probably was not even implemented in that. That is most liekly a demo thing played a while ago.

In a thread called New informations for NBA Live or something made by a user named SteveT, look in the NBA Live 2004 sections.

They said collision detection in the air.

Hopefully, the ground detection is at least as good as 2003.

i think this video is a demo play and/or a presentation to someone else sitting next to the screen

(i can heard a voice that seems he was explaining the game to others, but i am not sure becuase the voice wasn't clear)

First thanks Xu.Jing for putting up this video. I just downloaded it and watched it.

And it was pretty cool, although it was the PS2 version of the game :).

The graphics look nice, but there are still some minor flaws. For example the players can run through each other, often seen in the one-on-one Carter vs. James. But that should be fixable easily. The play-by-play announcer in the arena sounded very nice and the arena itself looked pretty cool.

But there are still some things to worry about. That game Nets vs. Mavs was 5 Minutes a quarter, but still 20 - 10 the score was at the end of quarter one. I am still praying, that this sliding difficultie and game adjustment thingy is in place, so that this could also be the score after 12 minutes of play. But I am hopeful.

All in all ... awesome video which makes one craving for more :D. And I officially cant wait now to get the game.
