Good find...the graphics in live 2004 certainly aren't impressive. I might make those rockets jersey for live 2003...but then again..not many people would give a damn.

those look good, but I hope not all of those off-balance/fadeaways go in. But it looks great. Those rockets jerseys look cool...

personally, i don't think ea's gonna release live 2004 with that kinda graphics...my guess is that the screens were taken with a crappy computer or something :?

The graphics look good enough. And those are probably from a low-resolution screen. Are those even pc-pics??? Your guess is as good as mine. With better resolution the graphics will look better, but in the end, the graphics are just a tool and not the only thing in the game.

The graphics in motion will look very good in my mind and there really shouldn't be any complaints about that. EA games always look good.

If there are no big faults in the game, well then I can accept that someone has something to complain about the graphics, but otherwise. The graphics don't make the game, the software makes the game.

Those look like 640x480 screens... Or maybe 800x600...

I give a damn.

BTW--PC players, don't sweat these pics--we all know what patching will do to this game. I'm more concerned about the gameplay--b/c i know by November--Thug, Tony and everybody else will pumpin out some hot ass patches!

If everyone was able to project these pics onto their TV I'm sure they would say the graphics are awesome...PS2 graphics viewed on the PC never look that great.

Considering the fact these are PS2 pics...I think that the graphics are improved. Don't just focus on the players...check out the arenas...they are MUCH improved...and did anyone notice the retired numbers? How about the scorers table in the pic with Steve Smith.

I know it's easy to complain about the screenshots right now because it's all we've got to talk about. Keep in mind that from what we've heard...EA has focused on things that work behind the scenes...namely gameplay and franchise mode. All the manhours that EA poured into these items will not be reflected in the screenshots...

the screen looks okay..but the fadeway motion is very awkward...and i hate the new Rockets jersey...it is just as bad as the old one (n)...very plain...

yea, i also noticed the retired number... sweet  (look in the GP shot...)
it seems like there will be a whole lot of off-court-detail in 2004, which is always good :)

the game looks realy sweet. although it's still to early to be basing critic on the graphic though...

Well graphics arent most important obviously because the point of a game is to be good enough to warrant givin it playing time. However there is a reason these games are called "video" games and they are supposed to be appealing to look at. In 2003 I think most of us would expect to see more detail in terms of visuals in a video game. I dont say the finished product wont look great but i would prefer to not have to rely on patching. Not to be overly citical but i do think the graphics look cartoony right now without more realistic textures. I mean damn the competition even has moving jerseys :?

but the fadeway motion is very awkward

i don't think that's a fadeaway shot--i think it's either a stop and pop or an up and over side jumper--

BTW-I noticed the 3-d first row audience--any chance at patching the front row and putting Jack at Staples and Spike Lee at the Garden?

I'm sure the finished version will look much more polished than that. Those screens aren't awful in my opinion. Details such as textures and cyberfaces can be part of the finishing touches. Gameplay and features must come first.

sounds just about right Andrew, EA is not to slept on this year and they said they have a new face mapping technology that will be applied in NBA Live 2004, I'm guessing unlike other developers this tech allows them to do an accurate face is less time, so it would be one of the last things added. i just hope it is good, excuse me GREAT!

If not already posted, here is Allen Iverson, early preview of the technology: Image

I think Ben posted that some time ago, but it's been some time since I've seen that preview. I'd forgotten how much of an improvement it showed. Again, such details can be given attention when everything else is finished and functional. Note that Karl Malone is wearing #32 in that preview (he'll wear #11) and in another preview Kenyon Martin was listed as a 2 year pro.

Yeah, major improvment, but if you haven't seen it, it is pretty old might i add, like end of june early july type old, so just imagine what it looks like now. I also have a little thing in my head telling me that all these "NEW" NBA Live 2004 pics are atleast 2-3weeks old and EA doesn't want to release an up-to-date pic so that when they do we will die on site.(Just a little feeling i have)
