Has this feature been present in the console versions all along (and not on PC) or has EA added real player pics back into the game? See pic below...

thanks for the link meta'
Is the lower level crowd in 3D now? Looks sorta like it to me. The player portrait that pops up when in-game stats are given looks nice too. Theres also a shot of Yao Ming blocking a dunk, err.. trying to block one.. it appears he totally whiffed, but its nice to see that part of the defense in action.

loos like they've borught back the real portraits of the players, as well as the "3" icon. I guess we'll be seeing the dunk and defensive icons again. I hope that we would be able to turn it off if we wanted to. It gives away a players' skill, especially if he is a 3 pt. specialist.

all in all it looks good. Hope the gameplay is better.

cheers! :D

UH, OH

OK maybe I'm just worrying too much but if you look at screen 6 of PS2 it shows Parker on a fast break and Malik Rose with 10 boards. I hope its not like last year and you can just throw it from your board up the oyher end and get an easy dunk.........

The icons are great... Do you know how well the teams scout each other before a game??? Very well indeed and they certainly know who's a big inside threat and who's big time 3pt shooter. And they know who's a good defender too. So all these icons are good for the game. It tells you the player what you would know if you were playing it for real. There should be something to notify those guys with ratings over 95 or something so you would know if you wanted to help another guy or stick with your man. Like maybe make the icons colored bronze, silver and gold. And bronze being over 85 stat, silver being over 90 and gold over 95. That would be even more accurate and more realistic. So Big Ben would have that golden shot blocking icon and thus making him very dangerous in defense.

There are a very few secrets in the game of basket ball in the pros. Even we all know that Ray Allen is a good shooter, Carter can dunk the living daylights out of you and AI is fast as hell, and Shaq will definately punish you down below and taking a shot against Big Ben is not worth taking it.

I know how valuable scouting is. That's one thing that can make a difference in the world of real BBall or virtual BBall. I was just hoping that you could turn those icons off. For me it makes the game easier because due to the icons, i know who to defend, who i can go to to score, and who to use on defense. If the opponent was down by ten and was trying to catchup by using the three, i would immediately call for defensive plays to watch those 3 pt shooters. If i see the icon on his player, i know he has a great chance to make the shot. If the icon was not present, then i would have to rely on my instinct, judgement and player knowledge to determine whether or not to defend him on the perimeter or just let him take the shot.

I guess it's a longshot that this option would be implemented. But who knows? maybe next year...

cheers! :D

The players basically know each other. They know who knocks the three down with authority and they know that Amare does those crazy dunks.

You know things about the other teams... Think of a dynasty 10 years from now and a time when you no longer have the real players going at it for you. How would you tell then how to defend someone??? You just can't. This just saves you the time of going over the other team's roster and stats. I know your point, but the fact is that the teams out there fighting each other do know basically what they can do.

ok, two things;
- first of all. the seats are empty... this would probebly be a pracise court then... it would be realy cool if you could actually pracise on your team's court... (but that wouldn't explain why yao is boxing up on t-mac in a 1-1game )
- the shoes :), oh the shoes... they sertainly have a much higher detail then 2003... goodie :D

the game looks awsome :D

i like the icons under them, than you know who to use for like a last second 3 or something.

But look at this dunk, doesn't that look weird. Plus the ball looks like it has too much grip on it.... but whatever....

Even if EA doesn't explicitly give the option you can still turn them off...all you need to do is replace the FSH that contains the icons with a FSH that has completely transparent images...that way the icons don't show up in your game.

Those particular pics are promotional type pics...they have been modified and don't represent the the actual game.

k-mart is going into his 4th yaer, he was the number 1 pick in the 2000 draft. but calm down, they are still doing those kind of things and maybe this is from last year, kinda thing so it would be accurate.... like maybe they made it so yuo could play last years finals, or like they just made it so the people who were reviewing it could play this years finals kinda thing....

Details such as years pro can easily be updated just prior to the game going gold.

Being a pc player, It's going to be cool to see our own picture when the stats go up during the game. Nice touch--I loved that in live 2000.
