Dunks

Postby Ruff Ryder on Sat Jul 26, 2003 4:09 am

I hope EA adds more dunks. I've seen a couple new ones but there needs to be more. How about more regular one-hand or 2 hand dunks. All i see if i dunk with mopete is a double pump, reverse and that dunk where he brings it up frome his waste. I'm sure there is no regular 2 handed dunk. And comeone, kobe isn't going to do a 360 windmill in traffic.

Also, since they can seem to tell if you are wide open(which increases your chances of making a shot) shouldn't they be able to tell if you are on a solo fastbreak and save the fancy dunks for them?/

And if they add more regular dunks, (maybe in live 2k5) they oughta let you hold the shoot button while on the rim to hang(like courtside for N64 :) )

I'd like to see more soft dunks, like the ones in NBA Live 2001. A few generic dunks that don't cause the rim to bend or the backboard to violently shake. I'd also like to see the crashing sound effect replaced with a more realistic sound effect. A small detail I know, but should be easy enough to fix.

Agreed.

And what is more, how do you like Peja doing that ?!?!?!? I've never seen him doing a dunk (even the easiest one) after an alley-oop in real NBA ! C'mon, Peja is not Vince !!!

That's one problem that i think should really really be fixed...and to go even furthur than Peja and Vince's dunks being different, Kobe and Vince also shouldn't be doin the ALL same dunks. they share a couple but ea really should consider a move list or something that would differenciate all players dunks..maybe a dunking category where carter would be finesse/power (360 windmills) and Kobe would be more finesse than power (long distance dunks or simple yet impressive dunks..

on another note...does the jump rating really affect how high a player jumps in live?

Actually it does but not on offense because i noticed that KG jumps higher to block shots than say Elton Brand. He can get his Elbow over the rim. But in Live it dont really matter.

the jump rating should affect how far and high a player jumps because last time i check, Carter and Spree weren't on the same level of jumping/dunking capability

Live to keep the fancy dunks for fast breaks, and just have simple dunks for the rest of the situations.

But the dunk rating affects the dunks the most.

 good point :?
but what im tryin to say is that if Vince or Kobe go up for a normal 2 handed dunk, the height of the dunk/jump should differ from other sf/sg

doesnt the dunk rating show you how capable a player is a doing more difficult dunks?

The dunk rating determines the player's ability to make more difficult dunks. The range of dunks a player can perform is controlled by their dunk package (DUNKPACK).

the endurence rating should effect dunks too. if you have low endurence you shouldn't be able to pull off lots of spectaucalur dunks thoughout the whole game, maybe one or 2, and if you have low endurence in the later parts of the game eg. 4 min in the 4th quarter or something when you go for the dunk you would just lay it in instead. But than if you have higher endurence, you probaly get what i am saying

I like that idea, fatigue and endurance affecting dunks. A tired player should be more likely to attempt a layup than dunk, especially if he's "running on fumes". Any dunk attempts by a tired player should also be simple, no 360s or anything fancy.

good point and say if kobe has been in the whole game he should just do a regular 1 or 2 handed dunk.

yeah great idea...but if this is gonna happen in the game Demond Mason's endurance should have like 90 or higher..in the 2002 playoffs i remember that when Seattle was playing Spurs in the first rd in the final few minutes...of the fourth quarter he did a spectacular dunk so he's indurance should be pretty high...

dunks for certain situations

Postby AznBBoyX on Mon Aug 04, 2003 1:07 pm

I just want players to have dunks for certain situations. I hope their will be a lot of generic, not to flashy dunks. For example if you are in the paint, you just want a quick flush not a 360. And power dunks if you have to dunk over someone, for example, Vince's power dunks and for a big man, Amare's dunk over Olowkandi. I mean, they aren't fancy, but they are cool anywayz just because they are powerful and you dunked on someone. I also hope that on a fast break, if the player is all alone, then the jumping + dunking rating will really matter for a fancy dunk. Normally, I think the dunking and jumping rating should only affect if you make the dunk or not if you trying to dunk on someone. One thing I wish they changed this year is to make dunks occur less. In Live 2003, you can dunk everytime with a good player.

I can't get enough of soaring dunks. (like Desmond Mason in the intro movie for live 03) they should add more of them. Two handed soaring dunks are the most realistic. (Y)

Generic dunks would be nice. I wish they didn't remove the Live 2001 feature where you could pick a signature dunk (such as Karl Malone doing his one-handed dunk most of the time).

I'd like to see the between-the-legs dunk. EA removed it in Live 2003 for no apparent reason.
