Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

2CDs

Postby Ruff Ryder on Wed Jul 23, 2003 10:30 am

What if NBA Live(pc version) came with 2 cds. 1 with the basic modes and another with extra modes like 1 on 1, dunk contest, 3 pt contest, and more all-star weekend stuff.

NBA Live 2004 will probably be coming out on 2 CDs, but that won't have any effect on the amount of features or the gameplay. It just means content such as art and audio requires more storage space than one CD-ROM can provide.

Agreed. A dunk contest would surely be hyped as a new feature as the 3 Point Contest was, so it's highly unlikely it will be in Live 2004.

LOL! Guys, with all those features have already been mentioned in NBA Live 2004 forum so far, this game will hardly fit on 3 or 4 CDs!!!

If they had it on two CDs, it would be a good idea to make it just as some Windows programs where you have to install from both CDs, but most of the files are on the computer so you only need one cd to play it.

Chances are how it would work is how most 2 CD installs work, which is you install using both CD's, like you put in CD 1 and install then it asks you to put CD 2 in and then you install off that, but you only need CD 1 in the drive while you're playing, none of that annoying switching CD's while playing which would piss me, and others, off (I think.)

This would work the same for console owners?

As I said, the number of CDs does not really have an effect on the amount of features. It has more to do with content such as audio and art.

So if it does come on 2 CD's will that mean u can only play franchise on one CD and exhibition on the other?

It would probably use both CDs to install, but only one to play. You could probably install it so you wouldn't have to constantly switch CDs.

This would work the same for console owners?

The PS2 version will most likely be on DVD (as NBA Live 2003 was), so it won't need 2 discs. DVDs can hold more data than CD-ROMs.

Um... NHL2004 is coming on 2CDs, and FIFA2003 was on 2CDs, so there's a chance NBA Live 2004 will be on 2CDs.

And the way you use 2CDs is this: you put one in the CD-ROM, then you put some glue on the other one and put it in there upside down. Now comes the tricky part, because you have to take out your CD-Rom and turn it on its side, then spin it around 5 times (only 5!!!! 6 would not work), then you take it, and bang your head with it 3 times, then you're ready to play. :D

(For god's sake, don't try it!!!!!!!!!! )

yeh i'd say it will come out on 2 cds, 2 two needed to install, and then u need to have either cd1 or cd2 in the drive to run the game, specified by ea sports :)

who knows, it might be like enter the matrix, and have 4 cds  and need 3gig's to install it :)

Andreas Dahl,

That same thing happened to me with Enter the Matrix.
Exactly the same thing.
So I returned the game.

It really does not matter wheter it is on one or two cds... It might be a problem for those that use the consoles, but it's nothing new to us pc users.

If it comes on two cds, well it could take up to one giga of hard drive space cause a lot of the media would have to be put on the hard drive. Nothing takes space like the fancy graphics and movies etc.

It really does not matter as long as the cpu requirements are kept in check.

My god...so many worthless emoticons used...

Gamecube works like the PS by, at a certain point asking you to insert the next CD.

Xbox has a DVD drive.

I don't think "Please enter CD2" works with sport games, it's not like you have to load a new level when completed one. I might be completely wrong, but I'm guessing they can make it on one CD for GC, since the textures and other stuff aren't as high-res as in Xbox or PC or PS2. BUT that's just a guess, I'm no expert.
