auto subs suck

Postby f.t.w. on Fri May 30, 2003 12:04 am

subbing my own guys is too time consuming, but i have to do my reorder rosters in a very particular way to even make the cpu subs bearable. the cpu is hell-bent on players playing their primary position.

what i am wishing for is a 'reorder roster' screen that is more detailed. i.e. are you a team that goes 12 deep or 8 deep? do you have certain players that are more inclined to play their secondary position than other players?

and for that matter, they should have tertiary position for some players (e.g. scottie pippen).

The ability to designate auto-sub patterns would be great. It would also be great to see the CPU follow better auto-sub patterns as well (starters don't necessarily play 30+ minutes), and make changes if players aren't having good games. It would also mean that the All-Star games are played realistically - revolving door lineups for the first three quarters, then the best five on the floor in the fourth. It would be great if the CPU "knew" who was having a good game.

I also like the idea about the third position, and greater attention paid to playing players out of their primary position wouldn't go astray either. (Y)

Who is Melo?

The computer should know when you are having a bad game. It should be easy in 2k3 because a player rarely shoots under 80% (:p)so when they are, take them off.

Carmelo Anthony. He was selected third overall by the Nuggets this year.

lol.

Ya it would be better to have them play they secondary positions more. like if you had 1 starting sf, and on the bench you had 3 SG's and 2 of them can easily play the SF position, the cpu won't sub them in and have that starting sf play the entire game(it happened once in live2001, i don't know about 2003)

in live 2000, a PF can play C if there are no bench C, that works for other positions too

that's incredible to see how NBA live is getting worse through the years, as if every years they remove things to make the game more unrealistic

I'll add too for auto-subs : create an option so that there are auto subs for players and CPU even if we play a 3 min per quarter game. In Live 2000, I mostly play 2 or 3 min per quarter game, i make subs myself to play with the bench, but in front of me I only see the starter, while i'd like to see some bench players against me.

oh, and the CPU should give up and put dumb players when he's 30 points in front or behind with 3 min left, no 30 sec... Garbage time is not really respected in Live 2000 (and what about Live 2003 ? :p)

The same goes for NBA Live 2003, though if there is a centre on the bench they will get the nod over a power forward, even if the power forward is a better player.

for me also, when i sub in one of my bench players, and don't turn the auto-sub thing off. the next time we get the ball, the computer automatically calls timeout to get the starters back in
