At this stage, I'd be inclined NOT to pick Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady, simply because they've already been used in the banner logo over at the official site. Of course, EA may not bother to keep it a secret this year, but it seems unlikely that they would reveal the cover player (or players) in this manner.

I guess it could be pretty much anyone, though you could probably eliminate these players:

Kobe (signed with Nintendo for Courtside series)
Shaq (NBA Live 96)
Richmond (NBA Live 97, not in league, no longer All-Star player anyway)
Tim Hardaway (NBA Live 98, no longer All-Star)
Antoine Walker (NBA Live 99)
Tim Duncan (NBA Live 2000)
Kevin Garnett (NBA Live 2001)
Steve Francis (NBA Live 2002)
Jason Kidd (NBA Live 2003)
Michael Jordan (cameo on Live 2000 box, retired)
Any player who is the cover player for any other NBA title

If we're also going to eliminate T-Mac and Yao Ming since they've already appeared in NBA Live 2003 previews...how about Dirk Nowitzki?

Could be the Beast, but it seems it's usually a perennial All-Star chosen for the cover, in most cases a scorer, and someone who usually makes the highlight reels (at the offensive end). I suggested Nowitzki basically because he's a recent All-Star who hasn't appeared on the cover before, and as far as I know isn't signed with another company. Personally, I'd choose T-Mac, but as I said, I doubt it's him.

Still, I don't know any more than anyone else. They might even put someone on the box who's been there before, though I somehow doubt that.

Or maybe it will be T-Mac and Yao on the box, though since the box features an action shot of the real player and that image uses players taken from the game, I'm still skeptical. :)

Not Allen Iverson, since his with NBA2k3 and very surely with NBA2k4.
I suggest Steve Francis, no, after a secon thought: LEBRON JAMES!!!

Nah..no LeBron James. Cause he never played a NBA game before and maybe he will flop, I would go with Jermaine O´Neal, Big Ben or the dunking Deutchman

A Nowitzki cover wouldn't sell the game real well (hmm.. maybe in Germany though).

These are my choices:

Ben Wallace
Tracy McGrady
Steve Francis
Chris Webber

lol as good as Paul Pierce is, I think the cover would look ugly with him on it

Does Chris Webber still have a deal with the developers of NBA Jam? If so, he won't be on the cover. Though he'd be a good choice. (Y)

I would personally like AI on the cover, but oh well, he's with Sega :(

T Mac was on the cover of the worst NBA games from last year called "Starting 5"
if that even counts as a game

I say pick A.I. and show those Sega bastards not only did they sell more games but now they took there star player too :D

2004 looks very promising. But, I haven't seen trading of draft picks yet?

Chris Webber has appeared on one of the NBA Shootout games, so I don't think EA will pick him again.

I think Steve Nash could be a good choice, since a lot of people like his style of basketball.

Stevie Franchise was on the 2002 cover.

I want Baron Davis on the cover, but I doubt that will happen. It will probably be Dirk.

The cover they have looks good to me.. and having Yao on it is a good marketing move because it will help the game sell in the biggest video game selling demographic.

My guess (or hope) would be Steve Nash or Yao Ming. As dumbass has said, putting Yao Ming on the cover is probably a good marketing plan for EA.

Oops, forgot.

I don't think that 'Bron will flop, 'cause Kobe, KG, T-Mac didn't, and it seems that 'Bron has a higher skill level at that age.

I don't think LeBron will be on the cover though. It's going to be one of the top players in the NBA, who hasn't signed with another company and probably hasn't been on the cover of Live before.

I would like to see either T-Mac, Nowitzki, Nash be on the cover. Jerry Stackhouse or Kwame Brown would be nice though! :)
