Warmup Jerseys and more..

Postby Full Surface on Wed Mar 26, 2003 12:45 pm

I'd like to suggest the addition of warmup jerseys and suits in the next NBA Live. If you don't know what I'm talking about, they are the jerseys that players wear when they are introduced and enter the court (if you see MJ for example, he always has his warmup jersey tucked in while he's in his jumpsuit/sweatpants when he's shooting around before the game). If this feature is added, it would be nice if an option to "practice" before the real game actually begins is a good idea. There would be 8 people in the team on one side of the court. A rack of 8 balls would be in the side and each player can hold on. They would shoot and practice (one of them is being controlled by you, press the "Pass" button to switch players). Then if you're ready to begin the game, you simply select "Start Game".

It'd be pointless, there should be a cut scene with it, or like in 2002 when they start in the halls of the arena.

An even better idea is to have the return of the player introductions, like NBA Live 2001.

You can have multiple voice personalities, say for each city (it'd be cool, but highly unlikely it'll happen).

But yeah, instead of running out on the floor with their jerseys, they should have warm-up jerseys on.

Like the unbuttoned lower half of their pants. Animations like players joking around, head coach talking with assistant coaches.

I like the animation in NHL 2002 where you have the crowd jeered up on a bad call. I guess you could do this for Live but instead for every bad call, you can have different crowd cut-in scenes at the start of the game, end of a half, etc.

One idea that springs to mind:

When a team fouls more than 20 times in 1 game, it would be considered long and boring right? Why not show a cut in scene of a child sleeping or a guy rubbing his eyes or something?

I don't know, I think I'm wishing for too much, but hey! It's a wishlist afterall!!!

The sad thing is that EA would do this before fixing franchise mode, because it's adding pretty graphics and they seem to love doing that.

It would be nice to add graphic features, but EA should work on game play first. I'd prefer the time and money making the play easier.

I'd also like to be able to use freestyle without having 2 joysticks (for my PC). For example, I'd use the number pad with the keyboard, and maybe customize the directions with my sidewinder. (I wish I thought of this when you were taking suggestions.)

Well one thing I can say about this thread... Pointless and useless and nothing to do with the game...

colin826 said the most important thing here and the real problem. EA would propably make these trivial things happen then fixing the game.

I've been saying for years now that I'd like EA to take a year off the graphics development and work on the game itself.

I know it's the beautiful graphics that draw in new people to the game, but it's the juice inside the product that really are the hook, line and sinker. The graphics aren't the thing that makes a player feel the satisfaction you can feel after an intense game. And to make these things happen the player needs to feel like he is affecting the process and not just feel... Then you can feel proud of the fact that you have made this to become true. When you feel the pressure and make those hard choices and then fall or succeed you know that you had your say in the matter. There should be ways, other then playing all the season games, to make your team play better or worse. You should be able to choose a playing style based on your teams abilities and your players... Don't know if anyone can "hear" me on this one, but I know that if you've been there you know the feeling I am describing...

I understand and agree. I must admit I find glitz and extras appealing, I would rather see the gameplay itself the focus of attention.

i for one support refuze on his request...not because it's a needed(imo) thing in live 2004 but because everyone has their own thing they would like to see. Why should be ALL request the same thing? I was under the impression that everyone in the world was unique...not all the same.

I don't see it as fair for the guy to get prosecuted just because he wants something that isn't considered "needed"...let him ask for what he wants is all i'm sayin. If EA puts it in...then alteast we know they listen to us.

Of course he's allowed to want it. I want it. It's just that there's far more important ideas to be implemented, and virtually everyone believes the same things. More realism, less time spent on making the game easy on the eyes etc.

I agree, that's something I should have addressed in my post, but didn't. My apologies for that.

While gameplay is the most important aspect of the game, and I think we're all aware that improvements need to be made for the game to be more realistic, everyone is entitled to post their own wishes, so nothing is unnecessary. It just comes down to being a little more diplomatic when you disagree with an idea. :)
