game crash

when i install p04v117 and nbal_06-07_v3 the game disconnects after 4 minutes of online play
when i change in the file xstartup.cfg to custome art 1 the game runs very slowly and it takes ages 4 the game 2 load
i tried installing the official patch (NBA2004PATCH) but that didn't work
when i load back the original rosters the game works fine
does anyone know what seems 2 be the problem?

did you install the official update first?. . . that is all i can think of

at first i didn't install the update
does it matter?

it does it helps the game understand the added graphics so it has less chances of hanging. . .
