Dynasty points - no effect?

I've built up some dynasty points, and when set training, the points seem to go down?? e.g. if I set the sliders to 100% offense, the offense stats might go up a point or two, but the player's skills in other categories go down, sometimes as much as 2 or 3 pts? If I balance it out, say 25%for each category, there's virtually no effect... anyone know what's going on?
