gave crashes to desktop after about 2 minutes every time

Postby yukon2k on Tue Jan 31, 2006 10:10 am

i installed nba live 2004, then installed the patch, then installed the ncaa rosters and artwork. every time i get into the game and go into the 'edit player' from rosters management, i can go about 2-3 minutes then it crashes to the desktop. i thought maybe i should have installed the patch after installing the ncaa stuff, so i re-installed the patch - same problem. i re-installed direct x 9.0a just in case - same thing. i've got a geforce 6800gt video card, 1gb ram, windows xp, and am using 1280x1024x32 resolution - vertical sync off, antialiasing and anistropic filtering set to 'application controlled'. i'm waiting for the ncaa patch for nba live 2005 to get done, but i'd sure like to play this 2004 until then.

if you messed with the artwork then i reccomend you check this out http://nbalive.sportplanet.gamespy.com/faq.shtml its the ea bugfix patch scroll down about near the half page and there well be a link to the download. I use to have that when i enabled custom art or installed the ncaa artwork.....so it should work for you :D

thanks. i've already done that but i'll do it again. i turned off the custom art and i tried playing a game but the game crashed just before the start of the game. i've tried it both ways, but do i install the patch after i install the game and BEFORE i install the patches or AFTER i install the patches? also, i installed all of the ncaa patch files. the tutorial says to install all of the patches but in the patches, it says i don't need to install the custom art because it's in the main file. might that be the problem? should i reinstall the game and only install the main patch before/after the bug fix patch?

same thing. i uninstalled the game and all of the ncaa patches and re-installed the game and the patch. i thought i'd play the game without the ncaa patches just to see if the patches are the problem. the game played for a while and seemed normal. i went into the settings and changed the resolution from 640x480 to 1280x1024.32. the game froze. i re-booted the pc and reopened the game - it played for a bit then crashed to a blue memory dump screen. i re-booted and tried again - it played for a bit then crashed to the desktop. this is really pissing me off because it seems like it's a video card problem. i've had problems running some games ever since i upgraded my motherboard to a MSI KT8 NEO FIS2R, 2 512mb sticks of Crucial Ballistics PC3200 cl 2.0 memory, a Athlon 64 3200 cpu, and a BFG Geforce 6800 gt video card. i've tried both the nvidia forceware 78.01 & 81.98 drivers with the same results. this card should more than handle ea games
