v.11 released...

Postby Andrew on Sun Sep 19, 2004 2:47 pm

v1.11 (September 18th, 2004) has been released, here's the info:
  • 2004 Offseason Rosters updated through September 18th, 2004
  • A lot of player ratings and positions updated for better substitution patterns
  • A lot of player ratings updated for better simulated and in-game performance
  • Some jersey numbers corrected

As usual, please base all feedback on the current version and remember, we need some stability with some of the ratings so discussion is certainly encouraged before I implement further changes. Enjoy! (Y)

Some are transactions which you probably missed since they are at least a week ago.

Celtics rick fox will likely retire. justin reed should take his place in the roster.

Dallas mbenga should be in the team, dan dickau or abdul wahad will likely be waived. they have a surplus of centers who will be on the trading block.

Pistons rip hamilton higher fg to at 84-86.

Lakers devean george will start the season on the injured list.

Heat miralles is not anymore with the team. he signed with a team in europe. wang zhizhi should take his place.

Bucks tj ford will start the season on the il. he has not recovered yet.

Blazers has promised abdur rahim to be the starting sf this season. he has asked for a trade but he will start if he remains on the team.

Spurs have signed valter monteiro. kevin willis can be released, since he has not resigned with spurs. he's rumored to sign with atlanta.

Anyway. minor changes. great roster patch man.

SPURS romain sato should be 6'5 not 6'2. i think he can be a sg/sf for his size. pretty like devin brown.

Full Name: Romain Guessagba-Sato-Lebel
Position: Guard
Height/Weight: 6-5 (1.96 m) / 205 (93.0 kg)
Birthdate: March 2, 1981 (Bangui, Central African Republic)
High School: Dayton Christian (Dayton, Ohio)
College: Xavier
(Central African Republic)

http://www.nba.com/draft2004/profiles/RomainSato.html

HEAT dorell wright sg/sf.

At shooting guard, the options feature incumbent starter Eddie Jones, 3-point ace Person and intriguing first-round pick Dorell Wright. - sun-sentinel.com

HEAT eddie jones sg/sf.

For now, don't rule out the possibility of Eddie Jones moving to small forward. At a listed 6-6, Jones stands only an inch shorter than Butler and offers the best defensive presence of the perimeter options. - sun-sentinel.com

HEAT matt freije pf/sf.

Rasual Butler not only is the early favorite to start at the position, he practically is the only conventional alternative (with apologies to second-round pick Matt Freije, who is more of an outside-shooting power forward, and 2003 second-round pick Jerome Beasley, whose immediate future well could be spelled N-B-D-L). - sun-sentinel.com

NETS eric williams starting pf/sf

In dumping the contract of Kerry Kittles and, last week, the partial guarantee of Lucious Harris, the Nets essentially replaced the two with Rodney Buford and Ron Mercer. Before that, New Jersey chose to go from Kenyon Martin to Eric Williams at forward. - sun-sentinel.com

SPURS rasho nesterovic lower def aware to 51-53. he's overrated.

KNICKS Mengke Bateer weight to 310.
#00 Center
Height: 6-11 Weight: 310 Born: Nov 20, 1975 - Inner Mongolia, China College: None
Draft: None
- yahoosports

At 6-11, 310 pounds, Bateer is not exactly the Shaq-stopper the Knicks are looking for, but he is an extraordinary specimen, with an extraordinary story. - nj.com

Great work Andrew! :)

Todd McCullough (76ers IR) has retired. Be sure to remove him from the list of active players.

Rip Hamilton's 3pt rating (too high), shooting range (too high), and FG rating (too low) remain unchanged from previous patches.

Karl Malone (if he doesn't retire) should have his hardiness decreased. Not the iron man he once was before his injury last season, which came back to haunt him during the playoffs. However, I think his FG rating should be brought back to its original rating of 80. He's still a good offensive threat when he's healthy. Even with high FG ratings, the poor release of big men in this game make them bad shooters. A FG rating in the 70s makes Malone terrible.

pls disregard my earlier suggestion to change mengke bateer's weight. i was confused because some reports say he's 310 lbs, other's 290. he's listed at 290 in the olympics so that might be his current weight. no need to make a change. sorry. my mistake.

That does happen sometimes, generally downloading the file again fixes the problem.

No, because I'm not sure if NBA Live 2005 uses different weightings and standards for the ratings.

Jamal Mashburn is done for next season, and hopes to make one last comeback in 2005-2006. He should be placed on IR. Also, do you typically do anything to the stamina/hardiness of a player who can't play at all?

FREE AGENT greg buckner sg/sf.

MAVS dj mbenga years pro to 0. may be u over clicked to make it 52.

GRIZZLIES james posey(29) higher off reb to at at least mid 30's. he averaged 1.1 in 30 mins. while tayshaun prince(38) 1.1 in 32.4 mins.

SPURS nesterovic lower off aware to mid 60's.

beno udrih lower hardiness to mid 50's. this is his downside.

romain sato lower overall to 48-49.
- Sato has always been an intriguing prospect because of his massive hands and great leaping ability, but scouts believe that due to a lack of size (measured in at 6-3), his only ticket into the league is through the point. Having never played the position in college, it promises to be a difficult transition.
- sportsline.com

linton johnson - Word is the Spurs might use SF Linton Johnson, signed in late August, as a sort of lite version of SF Bruce Bowen. The thought in San Antonio is that Johnson's skills as a defensive stopper on the perimeter are similar to Bowen's but could not be used properly by the defensively challenged Bulls, for whom Johnson played last season.

note: i think MOST second rounders should have overalls lower than 50. lower half of first rounders should not have overalls too high from 50. of course there are some draft picks who are believed to be "steals." they are still rookies.

nba live 2005 rosters can still be useful even if they use diff weightings. eg. if player A steal is higher than blocks. nba 2004 roster can be corrected. or if player A has higher dunking than player B. etc. i think nba live 2005 rosters can be of great help.

Andrew, I started a new season controlling the 30 teams. For every game, I switch the controlled team at half time. After playing a few games, here are some comments:

players ratings suggestions:
Up LeBron James quickness to 75
Slow down a little Kenny Anderson and Gary Payton as they're getting old
Decrease Kerry Kittles dunk rating to 50. With his constantly injuried knee, he may not be any longer a big dunker, and should score outside even more.
I also compared some players quickness
Zoran Planinic 60 (the slowest PG in the game, is he really that slow?)
Mark Jackson 63
Bimbo Coles 71
Lindsey Hunter 71
Rod Strickland 75
Avery Johnson 78 (you could retire him now as he has signed with the Mavs as a player/coach but won't play unless there's a big injury in the roster)

players numbers:
Drew Gooden will wear #90

created players birthplaces:
Yuta Tabuse: Yokohama, Japan
Richie Frahm: Battle Ground, WA
Shaun Livingston: Peoria, IL
Luke Jackson: Eugene, OR

created players faces to update:
Britton Johnsen (he's more blond than dark haired, and he's short haired)
Shaun Livingston (unless he doesn't have the afro cup anymore, the hair n°13 would fit better :) )
Luke Jackson (hair 22 should be better)

players' shoes to change (in order to fit the shoes color with their new teams):
Tracy McGrady, Dikembe Mutombo, Carlos Boozer, Carlos Arroyo, Tamar Slay, Dan Dickau

And with the signing of Gary Trent for 1 year and a non guaranteed contract, Chris Jefferies has been waived

Hope that will help

Zoran Planinic 60 (the slowest PG in the game, is he really that slow?)

No, he's far from that. Planinic doesn't get much playing time, but I was very impressed after seeing him last year. He was pretty quick and could handl and dish the ball well. A very good PG on the offensive end, IMO. It's his weak defense, knack for making stupid fouls, and the fact that he plays behind Kidd that keeps him on the bench.

Scottie Pippen announced his retirement today.

Stanislav Medvedenko (Lakers) should have his shooting range increased to 18-20 feet.

Thanks. (Y)

Just a note, I probably won't release the next update until opening night on account of all the training camp fodder that teams have been signing. A lot of these players won't be around by the end of the pre-season so I'd rather wait until the rosters are finalised for the new season. Hope everyone understands. :)
