95/96 Season Roster v1.0 released...

Postby Andrew on Mon Aug 09, 2004 8:03 pm

The long wait is finally over! The initial version 1995/1996 Season Roster Patch has been completed and is ready to download here. As with all NLSC roster patches, you can provide feedback in the NLSC Roster Patch Issues section in our forum.

Features:
- 1995/1996 Opening Night Rosters
- 1996 All-Star Teams
- Real Salaries & Salary Cap from the 95/96 season
- Accurate contract lengths
- All teams have correct coaches
- Ratings adjusted to reflect player skill and performance during the 1996 season
- Default playoff bracket replaced with 1996 playoff bracket

I will probably release a new version before the release of NBA Live 2005, as well as an update pack so that users who have already downloaded the large patch can simply download a smaller update containing the additional art and updated roster.

Enjoy! :)

The long wait is over...

One question though... Haven't really read these patching forums at all is that does this patch have the real draft stuff as well? Then it would be super cool...

I'll prolly try this out anyway... Can't wait to see those center battles between Ewing, Hakeem, Zo, Mutombo and Shaq...

Back then, NBA had centers...

Unfortunately this version does not. Due to the way the game clears players from the database when starting a new Dynasty Game, it would require an add-on to create the rookies at the end of the season.

I remember there being some sort of a problem as such in the game...

Remembering about the Live 2004 patching comments last winter. Well, maybe next year...

It would be cool, if you could choose the date you wish to start your dynasty from. Like say 1989 and play to today and have all the real players etc. in it... That would be sweet. You could see if you could change the future. Maybe Shaq would sign with someone else etc.

Thanks for the rosters... I'll make good use of them.

Help......

Postby HaroldMiner on Tue Aug 10, 2004 1:10 pm

Hey, Thanks for your work on the patch, and thanks for including nique in the free agents. I do have a cuple problems.

1)since I downloaded the patch, my game freezes up alot during the menu's, it is almost imposible to get through the menu with out a crash

2)some of the players are missing faces? I tried a game between boston and chicago and rodman, barros and a few others had no face. Also ewing on the knicks had no face.

Is their something I can do to fix this, or is it like that for everybody? thanks for your help

Do you have custom art enabled?

Do you have EA's latest patch installed?

Hey Andrew, great patch :applaud:

However, you should put a WARNING somewhere so that poeple know the patch will change all the arenas. This means that even when you want to play with your normal 2003-04 roster, your arena willl be the old one....

it's not much of a problem for me..but for some people might be.

Most likely a problem with CustomArt - downloading the official update from EA should fix that.

If you've installed NBA Live 2004 to a folder other than the default, the art will have been installed to the wrong place. You'll need to manually move the render folder to the correct game folder - check the trouble shooting section in the readme for more details. If you have installed Live 2004 to the default folder, you may not have enabled CustomArt.

C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 2004\main\cscripts

Go there. Once you are there open the file called xstartup with a text program of some kind. fter that scroll to the bottom and you will see "Custom Art 0" change that 0 to a 1 and it should work.

help again again..

Postby HaroldMiner on Thu Aug 12, 2004 10:12 am

Ok does it matter which order I do these steps in. Should I.....
1) download the EA Sports patch,
2) enable the custom art
3) download the 95/96 patch

or is another order preferable?

also when you say open the xstartup with a "text program of some kind" do you mean like a word perfect program or something,..thanks

Was this patch supposed to replace the xcourt files in the render folder?
Because I think that's what happened to me. :(
If they were supposed to and it said it would during the readme or installation process, it's my mistake because I probably didn't read it carefully.

However, it seems as if all the court patches I got from .org have been replaced. :(
I've been trying to dl them again for the last couple days but .org's servers have been down. Is there anyway I can get these court patches back?
It would be great if somebody who had the patches can send it to me via email ( samchoi@gmail.com ) or some other way. :)

You can download at the sametime. Just install the patch before everything else and then take care of custom art. After that when you install the 95/96 roster, it should work fine.

Yeah it does. If you had read my post above before running the patch you would have known. I suggested Andrew to put some kind of warning somewhere...because I lost all my courts too.

Be patient and try to re-download all the patches from this site...it will take sometime but in the meanwhile you can enjoy some retro atomosphere...these old courts are actually pretty good.

Take it easy man.

some considerations about 95/96 rosters

Postby Checco on Thu Aug 12, 2004 6:03 pm

First of all, it's just fantastic. Thank you Andrew and thank you all that collaborated to create these retro emotions.
Second: it's impressing to notice how better were all the abilities of scoring, passing and ballhandling confronted to the actual roster, and this i think explain a lot about the problems of the Team Usa. I'm Italian and i've been really impressed by the game that Team Usa played with Italy: no one was able to put a 3 point shoot and it's not just a matter of the players of the team.. i mean besides Redd, Allen and few other there aren't American players able to have a decent shoot! I think that this is a real problem in Nba now, too many athletes, too many freak of nature but not trained to the foundamentals of basketball. What do you think about it?
bye and again ty

I certainly should have put a warning about the courts in v1.0. My apologies for that. I'll certainly add it to the documentation of v1.1 and the update pack.

Want my courts back

Postby Uncle Drew on Mon Aug 16, 2004 1:19 pm

So, what do we do in the mean time? I want my default courts back. I just played a game between the Grizzlies and Cavs, Cavs were home, but we played on the Rockets court. Go figure. How do I get my courts back?

Moving the xcourt folder (not the .viv) elsewhere will restore the original courts. I will try to fix the situation with some sort of a switch (most likely a .bat, as Repole suggested) in v1.1 and the update pack.

Hey, i noticed a strange thing. I was playing the hornets and the arena announcer said "Kalid Reeves" after he scored a basket.

So I decided to try with other players and other teams and I found the following players, who are not in the players.dbf in the original database folder, but yet are announced by the arena speaker:

- Matt Geiger
- Scott Burrel
- Mookie Blaylock
- Eric Montross
- Sherman Douglas
- Chris Mullin

I'm sure there are more.

Is it possible that EA kept some of these names in the audio file, which is basically the same year after year?

It certainly seems to be the case. I was quite pleased to discover that when I was testing the rosters. Not all players are still in the audio files but quite a few are.

where is the crowd ?

Postby HaroldMiner on Sun Aug 29, 2004 4:47 am

in all the games I have played the building is barely half full. at first I figured it was I had a bad record but now I am on top of the east at 10-4 and still barley have a crowd, this is also the case on away games, I plyed the bulls who were 9-3 and their crowd was the same.

also at the end of the season does the computer allow you to go over the cap? I am using the knicks and you put ewings salery at 18 million 0r so but the cap is only 23 million, how am I gonna be able to sign anybody? meanwhile You hgave jordan making a fraction of that over on the bulls and at that point Jordan was making 30 million a season. Other than that this patch is awsome, I am having a blast on it.

The crowd bug is an issue with the game, not the rosters. Dynasty Mode will allow you to go over the salary cap as you can in the real NBA, you may exceed the salary cap to re-sign your own player. And MJ's salary is correct for the 1996 season; he signed the one year, $30 million deal during the 1996 offseason for the 1996/1997 campaign. ;)
