Cavs Dynasty

Postby Mark. on Sun Jul 04, 2004 10:52 am

Well finally after a hard fought school term im back posting a dynasty again.

I'm only gonna do a 28 game season. so i might be able to get to the end of the regualr season by the end of the hols.

Settings:
Andrew's Rosters (old ones, and heavily tweaked)
Andrew's Sliders (once again heavily tweaked)
12 min playing quarters
12 min simming quarters
28 game season
3-3-3-3 playoff formatt
Random Schedule.

I also created myself and signed me to the cavs, and then released Jeff McInnis and then signed him to the Clippers.

I will be posting a series of game recaps after every 7 games, with a special one game post for the All Star Game.

Also as a side note, im having trouble finding some good retro jeresy's for my dynasty, it seems like mikki d (i think thats right) has made a lot but his site is down. I just hate seeing the jeresys that come with the game.

Anyway season preview post will be up soon.

Takeoff!!

The new look Cavs are looking to the 2003-2004 season with confidence. With the arrival of rookie star Lebron James the Cavs finally have a leader to carry them foward. LeBron will have help from a revamped head office which has been taken over by the un-heard of Martin "Mutton" Harris.

Harris a 20 year old from New Zealand got offered the job by Cleveland owner's earlier this year, while no reason was given for such a weird choice in GM, the Cavs have made it clear they have full confidence in Harris and hope to see him lead this team well.

When interviewed about taking over as GM Harris replied: "I was taken totally by supprise. At first i thought it was some kind of wicked prank being played on me. I have had a little experience in management, but nothing compared to this."

Moore, "The Arrival"

The first move new GM Harris made was another seemingly bogus move. Immediately on arrival Harris offered a contract to an 18 year old point guard, from Harris' homeland New Zealand, going by the name of Mark Moore.

The limited scouting reports that have been found on this youngster say that it will be hard to find a fitter player in the NBA, he has very solid quickness for a PG but his Speed and Endurance are what make him standout. His outside shooting is good but he will never be a 3 point cahmpion or nething. He loves to go to the hoop even thought he is only 6 foot and 139lbs.

Many have compared him to a young Allen Iverson, but he doesn't have the scoring drive to take that many shots or lead a team in that way. Moore, has great PG skills but wont ever be a major floor leader, he needs someone else to lead the team and for him to do the work in the background.

GM Harris on the Moore signing: "I've known Mark for quite a long time, we even played together at High School for a while. As many have said he is not a born leader, but that is what we have Lebron for. I think Mark will settle in well and use his skills to work magic alongside Lebron."

Boozer

Carlos Boozer, the second year player out of Duke, proved many selectors wrong last year. Somehow Boozer managed to fall to the Cavs in the second round and ended up making a far bigger imapct than the other rookie on the team, Dajuan Wagner.

Boozer has added strength and quickness to his frame over summer, so he excell even more on the boards this season. We expect to see Carlos averaging a double double this season.

Big Z

After the Moore signing the next biggest piece of talk that GM Harris has created, is over big center Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

Harris has said publicly that he is shopping Big Z around and that he has begun looking over a couple of offers from Boston.

"Big Z is a great player and the team really benefits from his abilities, but with a 13 million dollar contract, i woudl rather we got a player of slightly lesser value and smaller contract for the future."

The most likely deal so far would see Ilgauskas shipped out to Boston in exchange for Raef Lafrentz.

Sorry about the large amount of text with not much images, but i only thought of this idea when i was making the last post. Expect fav more pics in the next posts.

Comments would be very welcome please. :D

All Muscle

With the departure of a dominant center (more next article), Sophmore Carlos Boozer, has been carrying the load down low for the Cavs.

Earlier this year we predicted Boozer would be averaging a double double and he has helped us keep our word. Averaging 14.6ppg 11.7rpg 1.0bpg and shooting 63% from the field, Boozer is creating himself a reputation as one of the blue collar workmen of the NBA.

To make his great numbers even better, Boozer is playing the most time on the court for his team logging 35.7mpg in a back court focused rotation. Our theory here is that with the lack of another skilled big man in the front court, Boozer can only get better.

Raef, "Been and Gone"

With the rumors flying round, it could only be so long till GM Martin Harris shipped Big Z away. The trade that went through was the obvious one, 3 games into the season and deal was struck with Boston which sent Ilgauskas to the Celtics for skilled shooting Raef Lafrentz.

GM Harris' comments: "There is no Doubt that Big Z is one of the best centers in the East, but we needed some range from beyond the arc, and Raef gives that to us. Also now we have a very versatile team, with LeBron and Brown being able to work the post as swingmen, and Raef being able to step out side as a Center"

But Raef's stay was short lived. After 4 games with the Cavs and only mediocore to poor performances, GM Harris realised he had made his first mistake. "Raef just didnt fit into our system, i thought he wud be perfect for us but, sadly his outside shooting has not been much of a help (22%) and his defense has been poor. I'm sure he would flourish in another system, but we wont be changing ours for him"- GM Harris

The departure of Raef was set, after little negotiation, GM Harris managed to strike a deal with Detroit who had shown great interest in Raef as soon as he was on the block. The player who Boston got in return was Tayshaun Prince. This considerably weakens the Cavs in the front court, but it gives Boozer total control downlow and also gives Sagana Diop (who picked up Raef's defensive load, in limited minutes) to develop.

Image
Lets hope Prince can bring the D and Range that GM Harris has been looking for.

Rookies.

Rookies! The Rookies! LeBron and Moore, Moore and LeBron. These two youngsters have been tearing up the league. These two are playing like seasoned Veterans, leading the Cavs through the first quarter of the season and combining to make arguably the best backcourt in the East.

LeBron has been posting what seem to be MVP numbers 27.1ppg 7.6rpg 2.3spg 8.6apg, the MVP candidates my not be posted yet, but many are sure that LeBron will be a shoe-in to the list. When asked about his unbelievable performances LeBron replied: "I actually can't believe it myself, i dont know how long this is going to last. It hasnt been me though, Mark has been setting me up incredibly so i get the easy shot or i give a easy pass, really he deserves half of my assists."

Moore, while struggling from the field (37.9 FG%, 22.8 3PT%), has been having a great passing season slotting 9.7 assists per outting, while also taking good care of the ball for a rookie 2.1 turnovers per game. "Its been great not having to lead the team but still having good minutes at the point, i think if LeBron wasnt such a great leader, i think i would be playing a whole lot worse and we wouldnt be in the playoff race."

LeBron already making posters.

7 Game Storyline

We present you with the storyline of the first 7 games of the season, enjoy.

Game 1
0-0 Cleveland Cavs @ 0-0 Los Angles Lakers

The first game of the season didnt tunr out quite how the Cavs wanted. The start of the game showed little promise for the season, with LeBron stuggling and the defense slack. Even through the second the Cavs were terrible, but with the quarter coming to a close Moore and James, made some brilliant plays to spark a run to put the Cavs behind by 5 at the half.

Halftime: 50-45 Lakers Lead

The third quarter saw the Moore-LeBron connection light up with some quick D, and lightning offense, LeBron and Moore pushed the Cavs out to a 1 point lead at the end of the third. 75-74.
The final quarter was hard fought, but it was the Lakers who got the last shot to take the win.

End Score: 95-93 Lakers Win

POG: Karl Malone 14p 8rebs 7stls 3asts

Top Performances:

Kobe Bryant 21p 5rebs 8/12
Devean George 17p 6rebs 6ast
Shaquille O'Neal 16p 7rebs 3blk

Carlos Boozer 23p 9rebs (one wasnt recorded, shud be 10)
LeBron James 25p 10/25 7rebs 5stls 7ast
Mark Moore 12p 5rebs 8ast

Player thoughts:

Kobe-"We only just won tonight, i wasnt happy with how our offense ran, i was shooting on fire tonight but i wasnt getting the shots i wanted. We were lucky"

Boozer-"Obviously we are unhappy we lost, but to get that close to the Lakers wasn't that bad an effort, we just need to execut better"

Image
Already trouble stirring in Laker land, they had better give Kobe his shots or they wont be seeing him for long.

Game 2
0-1 Cleveland Cavs @ 2-0 Houston Rockets

The first was totally different form the previous game with the Cavs taking early control and a 24-20 lead into the second. The 2nd quarter was much the same with the lead only widening by 1 point.

Halftime: 50-45 Cavs Lead

The 3rd looked like the Cavs had the game, but Francis and Yao lead thier team on a 15-4 run to end the quarter up 81-73. The fourth saw the Cavs pull it back but once the game got close the Cavs couldnt convert, dropping thier second game in a row.

End Score 103-96 Rockets Win

POG: Steve Francis 21p 3rebs 3stl 9ast

Top Perfomances

Yao Ming 16p 8rebs
Kelvin Cato 12p 10 rebs

Carlos Boozer 8p 17rebs 2blk
Moore 10p 15ast
Bremer 20p
LeBron 20p 7rebs 5ast

Player Thoughts:

Francis-"Moore and LeBron are a great backcourt, by the post season they will be near unstopable, i hope we dont ahve to face them again"

Moore-"It was really hard playing agaisnt Stevie, he was owning me, i had to get LeBron to take him for me."

Game 3
1-1 Phoenix Suns @ 0-2 Cleveland Cavs

The first quarter was a huge crowd pleaser, the Cavs owning the Suns, shooting 66% while holding the Suns to 33%. Good control on fast breaks led to a 37-19 advantage going into the second. The D slackend off a little in the second, but the offense kept up to keep an 23 point lead going into the half.

Halftime: 68-45 Cavs Lead

The 3rd quarter saw disaster for the Cavs, Boozer went down with an Elbow injury and was out for the game and Moore sprained his ankle to be put out for the game too. Bron picked up the load for them and kept the lead for the Cavs 96-76. The fourth was a bench game for the Cavs with the main goal to keep the Suns under 100 points.

End Score: 117-98 Cavs Win

POG: LeBron James 36p 10rebs 1blk 1stl 10ast

Top Performances:

Ilgauskas 17p 11rebs 1blk 2stl
Boozer 13p 25min 6rebs

Marion 21p 3rebs 2blk 3ast
Amarae 8p 8rebs 3blk

Player thoughts:

Amare-"I hate to say it but they are a far better team than use, when thier starters are out theit bench can do the job well"

LeBron-"I didnt even know i was working on a triple double, i just knew i had to pick up the jobs of Mark and Carlos when they went down"

Game 4
4-3 Phillidelphia 76ers @ 1-2 Cleveland Cavs

The Cavs once again started with a first quarter run, but the 76ers big men kept them in it. the Cavs were up 30-23 at the end of the first. The second saw a philli comeback but the Cavs played some solid ball to hold them off.

Halftime score: 54-46 Cavs Lead

The third saw some very unreal shooting from both teams, both sides hit over 65% of their shots for the quarter. The Good field goal % carried over into the final quarter for the Cavs, but not the Suns, the Cavs taking out another easy win at home to keep the fans happy.

End Score: 112-100 Cavs Win

POG: LeBron James 24p 11/18 7rebs 7ast

Top Performances:

Brown 13p 5ast
Eric Williams 18p 21 mins 4rebs
Diop 6p 6rebs 4blk 13mins

Deric Coleman 22p 4rebs
Allen Iverson 22p 3rebs 2ast
Glen Robinson 20p 5rebs

Player Thoughts:

AI-"Who are these guys, thier bench played better than most of our starters, i look foward to the next meeting with this team, for the challenge"

Eric Williams-"I was loving it out there today, my shots were falling, i was basicly right there in the flow of it"

Game 5
2-4 New York Knicks @ 2-2 Cavs

This game saw the Cavs once again take a solid lead at the end of the first 22-16. But the second was not on for them, New York going on a massive run to take a 14 point lead into the half.

Halftime: 64-50 New York Lead

The third saw the Cavs try and try again but there was no coming back for them. The fourth confirmed the blow out, with the Cleveland fans leaving early.

End Score: 111-95 Knicks Win

Box Score unavliable

Game 6
2-3 Cleveland Cavs @ 2-8 New Jeresey Nets

THe first was very close fought with the lead changing hands 7 times, at the end of the quarter the Nets were up 29-27. The second was the same with both teams playing great D.

Halftime: 46-43 Net Lead

The third saw incredible FG% from the Nets but Cleveland managed to keep pace and take the lead into the third quarter. The fourth saw the best performance form the Cavs this season, one word for it CLUTCH!!

End Score 112-106 Cavs win

POG: LeBron James 27p 10/19 5rebs 4stls 6asts

Top Performances:

Boozer 18p 12rebs

Player Thoughts:

LeBron-"Moore played great today he should be POG, 15 in the fourth, he sealed the game for us"

Kidd-"I'm very impressed with Moore, i got told Defense is his weakness, but he played it brilliantly on me."

Game 7
4-5 Miami Heat @ 3-3 Cleveland Cavs

The first saw Kendrick Brown open a can of whoop-ass to help lead the Cavs to a 30-21 lead. The second saw the lead exteneded even further to 20 points, LeBron was once again working on a triple double with 10p 7rebs 8asts.

Halftime: 61-41 Cavs Lead

The third saw some crazy field goal % from the Heat (comeback code) but the Cavs held them off to go into the final quarter up 88-77. The fourth was blowout central with the Cavs padding the stats for something special.

End Score: 132-102 Cavs Win

POG:LeBron James 25p 9/18 8rebs 3stl 20asts

Top Performances:

Kendrick Brown 37p 15/17 2/2 3PT 3rebs 4stl

Boozer 16p 16rebs 7ast

Wade 13p 4/15 2rebs 14ast
Grant 24p 10/13 11rebs 3stl

Player Thoughts:

Moore-"20 assists!! theres why he is in the run for MVP, scary thing is he's only a rookie"

Wade-"Man how am i ment to contend for Rookie of the Year with those two playing out there"

Image
Brown Knocking down 1 of his 37, he is in the run for MIP.

With the season now well under way, we should start making predictions for the playoffs.

Lol yeah that was the intention.

Ummm i dont know wat my fps is but when i have it on the second highest reso (with out changing it through the .ini) max player detail, high enviro, hihg shadows, high refelection, i think medium bench players, turn crowd animation off, and use bilinear.... it runs pretty nice ill have a look at the exact settings next time i play.

Nah thats all good dude.
EDIT: Actually your age, birth place, number would be helpful

Umm from now on i think it will be better if i get them in a pm, or e-mail, remember you need a cyberface, and if you cant make one you'll have to ask round because i'm hopeless at them, sorry

So far James will be in the first batch of rookies.

NLSC Rookies for 2004-2005 Season:
1. James; 6'6" 219lbs SG
2. Desmond Jackson 6'6" 190lbs SG/SF
3.
4.
5.

Just an idea, be fictional if you want, because it would be better to have some fowards and centers instead of a heap of guards :D

Anyway i'm 5 games away from the next update, which i estimate to be 3-4 days away.

Would it be better for me to do them every 5 games, or stick with 7??
