DETROIT DYNASTY:
All-Star, 12-min, Bens Sliders, I will play the games, 82 game season

I did a fantasy draft, I had the first pick and i decided to go defense of course that means BIG BEN and the first five picks were:
1. Ben Wallace DET
2. Tim Duncan HOU
3. Shaq PHO
4. KG SEA

(By the way I used Bens Rosters v2.0)
My draft went like this: (Ovrl)
1. Ben Wallace (79)
2. Richard Hamilton (77)
3. Ricky Davis (66)
4. Marcus Camby (62)
5. Tim Hardaway (39) <-- Yea i kno thats pretty low, i was gonna take R. Alston but I went with my old time favorite player, plus i really wanna give him a ring and hopefully i can since he'll prob retire
6. Udonis Haslem (55)
7. Tyson Chandler (54)
8. D. Motumbo (52)
9. Scottie Pippen (49)
10. Gerald wallace (46)
11. K. Clark (48)
12. Frank williams (46) <-- not the best backup to an aging vet with bad knees but hes young, got sum speed and likes to shoot threes ,built like a young Hardaway

After the draft the first order of business was to get three players to fill out the rosters and be on the IR, i went with straight shooters here picking up Wesley Person, Dan Dickau and Chris Whitney

Next I went to edit my new players, i dont want two players wit the same number so i fixed it up

Then i went to see my rosters a lil bit and the managers statement:
i have 3 Centers, 3 PF, 4PG, 3 SF, 2SG

Season Opener: Indiana at Detroit
Image AT Image

STARTING LINEUPS
ImageImageImageImageImage

ImageImageImageImageImage

1st Quarter:
in the opening period it was all Steve Francis for Indiana pouring in 11 points in the first period, he was basically bringin the ball down the court each time and just looking to score. Meanwhile the only constant was Richard Hamilton who kept me in the game scoring 9 points and basically running the offense for me. Id give him the ball and things would happen, Hardaway was slow in the first quarter and wasnt providing much but the big guys in side kept it close. Score after 1 was 22-23, DET up 1

2nd Quarter
I was still feeling my team around with a whole new set of players i was experimenting and seeing what worked, throughout the most part of the second the score was close and i hung in there until the last couple of minutes and the Pacers made a big run, Jermaine Oneal finally got involved and they exploded to lead 56-42 at halftime. Francis had 18 points and Rip led us with 13

3rd Quarter

I made a few adjustments at halftime, one of them to change the defense to a 2-2-1 Full Court Press, to try to go on a run, force turnovers and comeback. With the stingy defense it worked, Ben Wallace let us back on the comeback playing defense all over the court and posting up JO for 8 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 stl and 2 assist. Rip stayed consistent and the big guys off the bench played well. After 3 it was 78-77, me up by one.

4th Quarter

Since I had came back I decided to go back to a 2-3 shifting zone and milking the clock a lil on offense. It stayed very close the whole quarter. And then they took a 4 point lead with about 1:33 remaining. I went to my matchups and decide to put pressure on Francis and Oneal and double up Francis, that way forcing sum one else to step up and beat me. I scored on consecutive possesions and they had the ball tied at 99, I doubled Francis and Timmy ended up with the ball, i callled time out and then i imbouded and worked the ball around quickly Tim Hardaway had it with about 5 left and he drove and got fouled, I missed the first and hit the second (Bens sliders make FT shooting a lil more difficult ,but I was able to sink one. Final score 100-99 DETROIT WINS THEIR SEASON OPENER

Game 2
DETROIT V. MIAMI
Image

STARTING LINEUPS
DETROIT
ImageImageImageImageImage
MIAMI
ImageImageImageImageImage

1st Quarter
In the first I started out good, scoring and playing defense, the Heat just gave the ball to Shareef and he delivered, keeping them in the game with 12 points. For me Hamilton scored 10 and continued to lead the way. I couldn’t believe I was only up 27-23 after one, I felt I was playing well and they just kept going to one player everytime.

2nd Quarter

In the second quarter Camby attacked Z and was able to get the big man in foul trouble, making the Heat even more of a one man team. Yet my offense was very sloppy and the hung in there enough to take the lead into halftime 45-44. Again Abdur-Rahim was the man with 20 for them and Rip led us with 14. Ben Wallace had 6 rebounds at halftime. And I think Richard was the only standout for us and that’s what caused them to take the lead.

3rd Quarter
In the third it wasn’t the offense that killed me but the lazy defense. The bench came in and provide some offense but the transition defense wasn’t there, it wasn’t until the backup pg Earl Watson came in for them and gave them a spark scoring on 3 layups and a jumpshot that they got a big lead. It was probably some bad coaching on my part holding tight to the tomeouts and not calling one to settle my team. All game long I just went with the flow mainly because I kept a 3-5 point lead through but w/e, it was time to tighten up in the 4th. After three it was Miami up 82-72

4th Quarter
In the fourth Ricky Davis went bizark (?) well he went nuts, everytime he touched the ball he was either slamming it home or laying it up, after being quite for three quarters and having 10 points coming into the 4th he went off for 18 points (most of which came on nasty ferocious dunks). All by himself Tricky Ricky was able to bring me back and put me in front by one. He then decide to finally pas the ball and hit a wide open Richard Hamilton for a wide open three. In the end Hamilton was the POG with 27 points but it was Ricky Davis who really won this one for me. Marcus Camby also had a very good game after coming back from an injury suffere in the second quarter. Also Dikembe Motumbo and Keon Clark saw their fiest action of the season, coming in off the bench in the third and try to hold down in the paint. Final score was 108- 98 (They started fouling at the end, got like 9 points off free throws in last minute and a half.)

Game Recap

I decided to stick with Tim Hardaway for one more game. And I guess he heard me talking about benching him because from the onset he attacked the basket relentlessly scoring most of his points on easy layups. Hardaway also ran the offense smoothly feeding Marcus Camby in the post for 10 points in the quarter. After the first I held a mall lead like 27-23. ( I cant tell you exactly because I forgot to save the quarter stats, but I usually save them both ways with a screenshot and with the save stats option but I didn’t screen the first or third all I got was the halftime screen, my bad, but I got the player stats.) In the second quarter Hardaway continued his good play and I was able to build a ten point lead. Also in the second Tyson Chandler came in and provided good defense rebounding almost every miss helping me go on a run. At halftime the score was 54-44. Leading the way for me was Hardaway with 14 points and 4 assists and Camby combine for 12 points and 6 rebounds. Mean while for the higher rated Orlando Kenyon martin had 14 points.
At halftime I decide to insert the 10, 11, and 12th man in to start the third since I had a comfortable lead and I wanted to see what they could provide. Gerald Wallace had a nice flush, Dikembe played good defense and Keon provided an option inside scoring 4 points. However with these guys in the offense wasn’t clicking to well and the Magic made a little run. I quickly took them out and was able to regain the lead. In the third Frank Williams and Tim Hardaway were on the court together as Frank was forced to back up Rip who is the only active SG, he did a nice job because he has the ability to shoot, plus Rip prides himself on being the best conditioned athlete so playing almost the whole game isn’t a problem for him. Something I liked about Hardaway stepping up and running the offense was that it took away the pressure from Rip having to carry the load offensively and as a result the ball was moving around more and everyone was getting touches and I think the stats reflect that. After building and maintaining a 10 point lead in the fourth the Magic made a comeback behind the strong play of Martin and McGrady but my defense stepped up, namely Ben Wallace and Camby and I was able to get key stops. Also in the fourth, Tyson Chandler had the play of the game following a Ricky Davis miss with a one hand tomahawk. Down the stretch I regained the lead and the parade to the free throw line began. Final score, I win easily 111-101.

PISTONS START 3 GAME HOMESTAND AGAINST BOSTON TONIGHT
By: Joey Perez
November 5, 2003
AUBURN HILLS, DET

TONIGHTS GAME
The Detroit Pistons will start their three game home stand today at 7:30 as they play host to the Boston Celtics. The Pistons have a record of 3-0 and will look to continue on their season opening win streak. Meanwhile the Celtics are 1-2 and will try to finish their three game road trip with another victory after winning last night in New Orleans.

Point Guards
Despite the Pistons recent success there is a lot of speculation as to who will take command of the starting point guard position. The current starter, Tim Hardaway, who in years past was an ALL-NBA guard is struggling after battling knee injuries in each of the past three seasons, was brought in via the draft to be the point guard but word is out that GM Joe Dumars is not happy with the way he is performing. He has gone as far as to saying that Frank Williams is the better point guard on the team, the question is will the coach, Larry Brown sit out Hardaway for the 1 year pro Williams out of Illinois. That is yet to be seen.

PROBABLE STARTERS

Boston G Rafer Alston
G Derek Anderson
F Peja Stojakovic
F Karl Malone
C Stromile Swift

POOR SHOOTING LEADS TO FIRST LOSS OF THE YEAR
By: Joey Perez
November 5, 2003
AUBURN HILLS, DET

HORRIBLE START
The Pistons shot a horrendous 24% (.241, 7/29) in the first quarter which led to the Boston taking an nine point lead, 26-17 after one. The Pistons offense rebounding in the first wasn’t of any help to their awful shooting. And Boston capitalized on the missed shots to go on the break and get easy points. Were it not for the Detroit D, it would’ve been a blowout from the onset. Despite their efforts to comeback, which included going with a lineup of Ricky Davis, Richard Hamilton, Wallace, Chandler and Camby for most of the third quarter the never got closer than eight eventually losing 105-94.

THE STRO SHOW
Stromile Swift led the way for the Celtics posting huge numbers, 26 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Rafer Alston who was considered for the Pistons starting point guard spot chipped in with 20 points and 7 assists. While Peja Stojakovic shot his way for 27 points on 3/6 three point shooting.

For Detroit the leading scorer was Richard Hamilton who scored 20 points but shot a season low 31% from the field (9/29) going 0/8 frond behind the arc. Ricky scored 18 and Frank Williams contributed 15 off the bench.

NOTES
Frank Williams played most of the game, logging 24 minutes while the starter, Tim Hardaway only played 16 minutes, scoring 5 points. Udonis Haslem and Keon Clark both received DNP-CD.

Image
On the poor shooting night
“Man we were terrible, we couldn’t buy a bucket, every shot I took either rimmed out or just missed, I don’t know we just didn’t play well as a unit and never got in the flow of the offense, we’ll play better next game ”

Image
On his team’s offensive struggles
“We didn’t play the right way. I tell my guys that if they share the ball and play smart and play defense they can win against anybody. And tonight they played defense for the most part but they didn’t share the ball, everything was one on one and as a result there is poor execution. They just out played us tonight”

UGLY LOSS RAISES MORE QUESTIONS
By: Joey Perez
November 7, 2003
AUBURN HILLS, DET

TONIGHTS GAME
The Detroit Pistons will try to bounce back from a nightmarish game against Boston tonight as they host the Milwaukee Bucks at 8 pm. The Bucks are 3-2 and the Pistons are 3-1.

After the ugly loss of two days ago many questions have been posed about this Pistons team. Not only is the starting guard position up for grabs according to Joe Dumars but the GM also said that he is willing and able to pull the trigger on many deals if he feels the need to. Does this mean that the positions on the team are not secure? A better question would be who is on the trading block, well Joe wasn’t willing to discuss this with us so I guess only time will tell.

NOTES: Tonight at The Palace free Ben Wallace Bobble Head Dolls will be give to the first 1,000 kids.

OVERTIME THRILLER
By: Joey Perez
November 7, 2003
AUBURN HILLS, DET

BOBBLED FANS
Many of the fans that received their BIG BEN bobbleheads weren’t sure what to do either throw them at the court of keep them. The Pistons started out tonight much like they did the game before against Boston, shooting bricks. Thankfully the fans were treated to a great game that went from ugly to victory. The Pistons started out 4 for 18 but ended the quarter 3 for 3 to trail by only four after one, 25-21. The questioned marked Hardaway led the way for the Pistons taking control of the offense and playing Detroit style basketball. Hardaway scored 9 points in the first and was able to get the All-Star point guard, Steve Nash, into some early foul trouble taking away the bucks offense. The game started out a low scoring affair but turned into an overtime thriller.

GETTING LOVE THE HARD-A-WAY
Tim Hardaway, who has been publicly criticized for his lack of involvement and control over the offense, silenced all the doubters playing a great game. Hardaway delivered 19 points and 10 assist to lead the Pistons to their first overtime victory. Richard Hamilton was also huge scoring 31 points, 29 in the second half. Also, Ben Wallace provided the defense with pulling down 13 boards and sending back 6 shots to go along with his eight points. Camby contributed with 16 points, four of which sent the game into overtime, and 8 boards, he swatted 3 shots.

For Milwaukee Ron Artest and Jason Collier were both solid posting 18 points, 4 rebounds and 10 points and 14 rebounds respectively.

NOTES
Wesley Person is practicing with the team in hopes of being taken off IR. Gerald Wallace, Dikembe Motumbo, and Keon Clark each received DNP-CD, this is Clark’s second consecutive game without playing.

Image
On the rumors about him being benched
“I’ve started all five games. I started tonight and I’m helping this team win ball games and that’s all I can do, whether I start or how many minutes I play that’s out of my hands, Ill worry about is what I have control over”

Liking the atmostphere that you're giving for each game...keep it up. Yeh, screen shots would definitely be rocking. Can't wait how they face the now pretty much defunct Laker roster.

CLAXTON STARS AT TIM HARDAWAY”S EXPENSE
By: Joey Perez
November 9, 2003
AUBURN HILLS, DET

CLAXTON DOMINATES SECOND
After the a well played first quarter in which they ended leading 24-19 after an 11-0 run and behind 8 points from Ben Wallace and 7 from Rip, the Pistons loss control and dropped another home game. It started with Claxton constantly beating Hardaway down the floor and scoring easy buckets on his way to 12 points in the second and his team leading 50-42. The Pistons were outscored 31 to 18 in the quarter and shot just 25% from the field while the Nets scorched for 60%. The Pistons didn’t get much from inconsistent point guard Tim Hardaway. Claxton finished with 27 points and 8 assists.
The Piston made a run in the third trailing by just 1 after three 71-70 but were unable to bridge the gap eventually losing 98-89.

YAO HOLDS DOWN
Yao was able to control the game by holding down in the paint sending back shots and intimidating the Piston drivers. He finished with 22 points 8 rebounds and 4 Blocks.

For the Pistons the leading scorer was Richard Hamilton with 23 points in 43 minutes. He also pulled down 8 boards. Ben Wallace contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds and sent back 2 shots and had 4 assist. Ricky Davis led the team with 8 assist and even ran point for the first minutes of the 3rd. But after an 8 second violation in which he was unable to pass the half court line he was immediately benched by coach Larry Brown.

NOTES:
Gerald Wallace received his most action of the season when Pippen went down with an arm injury. Wallace was a big part of the third quarter run and scored 7 points in 15 minutes. As for Pippen he was still playable but the coach sat him out the rest of the game in order to prevent any other injury.

On his great performance
“Well I was able to get inside a lot and on the break my teammates did a great job of finding. But mainly I was able to get by him (Hardaway) whenever I wanted and that added effectiveness to my game. Im happy I did well and that my team pulled out a victory against a quality team”

On his injury
“Oh it wasn’t anything serious. I just hurt my arm driving to the basket, I think I caught it with the rim but I couldn’t shoot and that’s why I was taken out for the rest of the game.[/b]

JOE DUMARS SPEAKS OUT
By: Joey Perez

GM’S STATEMENT
A day after his team’s inability to perform at home yesterday the Detroit Piston’s GM Joe Dumars gave a public statement in which he not only criticized the point guards specially the starter Tim Hardaway but the entire starting lineup for their lack of offense and defensive intensity. The complete statement:

Image

“This is unacceptable. We assembled this team to win ball games not to get outplayed by an unproven point guard and a center that cant even understand his coach. This team was put together to win and win every game. Since they haven’t been able to perform as expected then changes must be made. Not only will the starting lineup be shaken up but so will the rest of the team. Leading the division is not enough we want to have the best record in the league and if that means getting better players then that’s what we’ll do.”

When asked if specific changes were being made Joe declined to expand simply saying you will notice them soon enough.

NEW LINE UP WILL DEBUT TONIGHT
After going 5 games with the same line up the organizations “suits” (GM, Owner, Coach etc.) were not satisfied and the result is a line up shakeup that’s has been talked about for the past three games. One of the main changes is at the point guard position. Inconsistent starter Tim Hardaway will be benched for the first time all season and Frank Williams will start for the first time in his NBA career. Other changes include Ben Wallace starting at center in an effort to contribute more defensively while camby will play PF. Gerald Wallace and Keon Clark have been moved up on the depth chart and will see more playing time.

PERSON AND WHITNEY ACTIVATED
Veterans Wesley Person and Chris Whitney have been activated and to make room for them Dikembe Motumbo and Pippen have been placed on IR. Pippen will stay there until his shooting get better.

TONIGHTS GAME
Tonight the Pistons backcourt will be tested by the dynamic duo of the 2-4 Kings who have Dwyane Wade and Kobe Bryant starting as the guards. The Pistons will try to rebound from a disappointing showing against the Nets tonight at 7 pm.

Larry Brown added this in respect to the line up changes: “ The line up change will hopefully allow us to get up and down the court faster and play more active. Also I will be playing new parts in different positions. Hopefully we can play the right way and start changing this around”

Tonights matchup will focus on the two stars of their respective teams, these two are great players who carry their teams offensively:
