MAJOR problems with Live 04, crashing, shoe patch, cyberface

Postby RJHNY1 on Mon May 31, 2004 12:07 pm

Hey guys, I am new to NBA Live 2004. I just got the game a little while ago and I'm still learning how to patch the game and such. So far, I have installed EA's patch, gfxpak.exe, various cyberfaces (both xplayer "kobryan" and customart), Knicks and Bobcats court, Atlantic and Central jerseys, and many cyberfaces.

I have made some searches, but I couldn't find any answers. So please don't tell me to try searching because believe me, I tried.

I have a AMD Athlon PC with 256 RAM, GeForce 2, 751 MHz, and 160GB of hard drive space, so you guys know what my computer is capable of.

1. My first problem is that my game is freezing. The screen flickers pretty bad and then it freezes. What do I do?

2. The second problem is that 4 of the cyberfaces I downloaded do not have eyes. These 4 were installed in the xplayer folder and have files like "rawalla." I tried installing danet's shoe patch. I download it and the it asks me to extract. I say yes, and then a dos prompt comes up, but I can't do anything and nothing happens. How do I properly install danet's shoe file?

Thank you in advance for helping me. I would really appreciate it. I'd like to get back to playing Live '04!

Yes, the game ran fine before I put any patches in. My problems are all related to the cyberface installations.

hmm... the first time i heard of patches causing flickering screens

about danet's patch... you can either
 delete the beye and bshos that came with the patch, (easier, but you don't get the pretty shoes and eyes)
 or resize them to a 128x128 beye and 256x256 bsho

idiot, (I don't mean the curse word, but your name), I don't even know where Danet's patch is located! I thought it was extracted to the main NBA Live 2004 folder, but I don't see the danet.exe there. How do I properly install danet's shoe patch? The readme doesn't provide enough info on how to install it right. Thanks.

Ohhh, you have to wait? Really? Ok, I'll try that and see what happens. Maybe that will fix some of the problems I have been having.

Well, I left the dos prompt for a couple of hours and those 3 options never came up. What do I do to get the danet shoe patch working? Thanks.

Just put it in your main NBA Live folder, then run the .exe.

When it comes up you should see this:

Then you have to press 1 or 2, depending on how you installed the patches (viv or customart.) You have to have customart on.

When I download the file, I "open" it. Should I save it to the folder and then open it? B/c when I open it and then extract it, I don't see the files in the NBA Live folder.

The last thing I see on the screenshot you put up is the MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM line. I don't have those 3 options to chose from below.

Also, if I both have .viv and customart installs, what do I do then? Install both?

Hmmmm.

I guess just move it to the main Live folder. Then run it. You have to run it twice to install voth viv and customart.

Also, does the readme come up when you run the program?

I saved it to the Live folder and ran it. Still nothing. Yes, the readme pops up when I run it.

Alright, finally I managed to download the shoe patch by danet. The players that had no eyes now have eyes.

One problem remains. The game freezes after a little bit! I was in in team management mode checking out the cyberfaces I installed. However, the game freezes. What should I do to eliminate these freezes?

If you guys look at this picture below. See those lines? They appear around the screen blinking and moving. This precedes the freeze. Please help!

I don't know about the freezing. My game freezes alot too with customart on. If I turn customart off then it doesn't freeze as much. See if the lines disappear by turning customart off.
