creating player

ok, I normally just put a created player stat to 99 you know, just so they can do everything. However, although it is fun at times just taking over games living your dreams, I want to now create the real me since I thinkk I finally stop growing (6'3" @ 18years old now)
Do there stats go up easily to make them a potential super star like towards the status of like maybe Kobe in the game? It would be cool seeing my overall rating go from like 55 to 90 in a few years.
