Getting Live for PC

Sun May 02, 2004 12:51 pm

I plan on getting NBA Live for PC soon. I already have it for ps2 but the reason I'm getting it is patches and screenshots so I can redo my Heat or Clippers dynasty. I also plan on taking up patching so look out! :P I just have a few questions.

1)What patches do I need to get? DaNets shoe patch, the custom art patch, but what else?
2.)What kind of controller should I buy or should I just get a playstation controller adapter?

Here are my specs:
AMD Athelon 1.3 ghz. My dad is custom building it so I dont know what kind of video card I'm getting, so hopefully I can run it on his computer temporaraly. Here's his:

AMD Athelon XP 2000
2 ghz
GeForce FX video card 256 mbs
Plenty of free space on this computer. It actually shuts down programs because it has 512 mbs of ram (too much for it).

1. I don't usually like to promote my own patches more than announcing them...but on this occasion I will suggest my current roster update. I also think the 95/96 mod is going to be pretty awesome. Beyond that, I'm not going to suggest any specific patches, as they are plenty of excellent patchmakers in the community, and I don't want to rank their work. My suggestion is to check out the Announcements section and download what appeals to you.

And if you're going to take up patchmaking, perhaps you'll be using your own work in time.

2. The PS2 adapter isn't a bad way to go, but the PC dual analog gamepads are pretty good too. I recommend the Thrustmaster Firestorm, though there some other good gamepads out there. There have been a few topics about gamepads with various user reviews, you might want to check those out before you make a choice.

Yeah, I'll probably use your roster patch, but what are some essential patches I need, maybe in order to get patches to work? I guess you could say "technical" patches. I think Qweet has a few I might need.

I would consider the official fix from EA essential.

OK. I downloaded the following patches:
Andrew's Roster
The New Icons patch from BChogan(spl?)
DaNet's 2x Shoe Patch and upgrade
EA Sport's official patch
The red rim
The training camp fix

Is there anything else under this category I should get?

I did also get a number of player, jersey, court and shoe updates.

lol, I got nothing man ;) just the customart switcher heh

What is GetLiveDir? Is that the custom art switcher? I downloaded EA's official patch, so customart works for me.

No customart switcher is different, just a tool to quickly change it on and off without modifying the file yourself heh... GetLiveDir is used to create installers that can find the program files/nba live 2004 directory from anywhere.

I recommend you get the same controller as I use. Wingman RumblePad.
I have used it for both live 03 and 04 and I got 100% controll of the game (y)

I got an Gemini axispad. It looks just like a PS2 controller for the most part, except I think it is a little bigger.
