'Keep Away' Offensive Set to run out the clock..

Postby HonorGlow on Fri Apr 16, 2004 12:35 am

Does anybody know how to execute the 'keep away' offensive set - the one which you have three offensive players as far back from the basketball as possible and they keep tossing the ball to one another whenever one gets double teamed. The CPU often uses this tactic when you're in desperation mode when you're behind and they just want to run out the clock. I'd like to show the CPU that TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME!

Also, what's the proper name for the offensive set?

Thanks so much!

I haven't bothered with the "other" plays much. Part of the reason is that I am too lazy to learn them. Also, the real-life Knicks run so much pick-and-roll, why change? :D (I use the Knicks most of the time) Finally, the game has trouble running some of the basic plays anyway, so I can't imagine learning the "other" plays will be easy when the players don't always obey my command (e.g. will call pick-and-roll, and not a single player moves from his spot).

I generally use Post Up when I want to keep the ball out of the hands of the opponent when they start to aggressively double-team. After I call for a player to Post Up, I pass the ball back and forth between my guards or one of the guards and the small forward out on the perimeter. I usually find I have an open three pointer or can quickly get the ball down low for a quick shot in the paint and/or a foul. Just another possibility.
