Questions from a newbie

Postby ManuGinobili!!! on Sat Mar 27, 2004 6:58 am

I just bought NBA Live on the PC after years of playing on consoles after seeing all the stuff you guys have done/can do with it.

I'm excited to get Andrew's 95-96 roster update and was considering making some dbf files with the players that were drafted that year that i could import into NBA Live. eg-iverson in 96, duncan in 97, etc.

i've read all the stuff about adding rookies to the draft and i have a couple questions. i understand i have to create the players and then use DB commander to change them.

1. can i delete the generated rookies before the draft by changing the DELETED field in the dbf to "TRUE"?

I would like to only have my rookies if possible, has anyone tried this?

2. how can i get faces on the draft picks i'm going to create?

I know some of you made LBJ, Carmelo, etc last year. the faces are already in the game for most of the players eg-duncan, iverson, etc. but how can i get them onto the created players i'm going to make?

3. i saved a roster file, but when i look at files on my c: drive i only find the original roster. where can i find the roster that has my created players?

thanks for any help you can provide

1. As far as I know, you can't delete the generated rookies before they appear in the draft pool.

2. I'm going to leave the players who weren't around in 1996 in the DBF, hidden away on team 38. You could simply import those players to the new DBF, which you would then import from when you get to the offseason. Those players would already have their PLAYERPKG values in place, thus would have their correct cyberfaces.

Hope this helps. :)

Andrew-one more favor to ask of you-could you explain the process of importing the players into the dbf?

i'm completely retarded when it comes to computers/computer games.

thanks again for all the work on the patch, i can't wait.

The easiest method would be to use the import feature in DB Commander or one of the other DBF editors. Just make sure there are no overlapping PLAYERIDs or ROSTERPOS values.
