Can someone post what the patch does?

The readme maybe? Does it update the rosters? Does it make the game recognize the Thrustmaster Dual Analog 2? Does it update ratings to players like Mark Blount, Jeri Welcsh, etc?

Thanks in advance.

The official download did not appear to have a readme included. Also, there is no obvious readme from a quick look at the installation folder, other than the orginal one that came with the game.

Edit: I, too, would love to get a full list of what's been fixed. Anybody?

Elsewhere I wrote:The patch fixes:
  • CustomArt Crashes
  • Custom Team crashes (we can now create more than five)
  • Allows you to play in 1600x1200 resolution (if your video card is capable of doing so)

It's a shame EA Sports didn't bother to fix up the satistical bugs in the game. For example, blks sometimes don't register as a missed field goal and assists which are registered when a teammate is blocked and a teammate subsequently makes a field goal. This leads to absurdly high FG%.

I was hoping EA would spend the time to fix the code but instead they chose to fix the graphics, which was probably less than what people were expecting.

Andrew IIRC, it wasn't explicitly said that your list included the ONLY fixes. Are we sure those are the only fixes? I couldn't care less about those issues. I don't care about visual patches, I don't have nearly the hardware to run at a ridiculous resolution, nor do I care about custom teams. What a disappointment! Seriously, I would think it far more important to fix gameplay issues than to get the game running at a resolution that a tiny slice of us uses. It took them like three months to release this? Sheesh! I hope they're spending all those precious developer hours on an NBA Live 2005 without bugs which shouldn't ever exist in any version (like the statistical bugs mentioned above, the offensive foul bug, etc).

Those are the only issues that the official patch resolves.

That is so lazy of them.
I am sure they are not going to have anymore patches before 2005.

I don't know, I've got a low end system (500mhz, 256 RAM, GeforceII) and I play with decent smoothness with textures to high and now, I CAN FINALLY PLAY CRASH FREE, with all my cool custom shoes in my xplayer folder!!! :applaud: I am very happy they fixed the customart bug - a MAJOR fix in my opinion! I can finish all my games without crashes and release and add players without crashes in my season! Great fix! Thank you EA! Big improvement!

the problem with this is that it shouldn't be something to get excited about

it should have worked out of the box

you know...I really feel justified in NOT having bought 2004

I bought 2003 and felt like I got robbed...and ea obviously could care less about this game as long as they just get something out there that says nba live on it

they have no competition on PC, so it's not a big deal...I wish sega would release 2k for pc...while no perfect, it has been the better basketball simulation in the world since they day the first version dropped on dreamcast

It puzzles me why EA would release an "official" patch to fix custom art/teams but not address any in-game/stats bugs and connection error

Mainly because we requested such a patch to enhance our own unofficial patches.

It was a community effort. Everyone who signed the petition or publically expressed a desire for an official patch deserves recognition. :applaud:

RandomSurge.... you are absolutely right.... if they made a pc version of 2k4 then it would surely make ea do something about my beloved live series... ive been an nba live lover since 95 and i started to dislike it with the coming of the 2003 version.... damn ea do something! i know they could out do the 2k series if they tried.... why dont they just make it a very deffinitive game like say have it in two version arcade and sim... to satisfy all? hey that way the people that buy the specific version know what they're getting and stop babbling! and also with that they would finally resolve the matter of which version/game style is more popular (sim or arcade)... i hope they hear me on this.....

yours,

neil (very disappointed live player... had to go to the 2k series.. no choice)
