This will allow you to defend against their best post players, while allowing your CPU teammates to closely guard their perimeter players. It will also allow you to easily step into the lane to help out if their guards penetrate.
These strategies should be effective against the Mavericks and Lakers. I've found that the Mavericks are especially difficult, as they tend to fast break more often than the Lakers.
I find standing over the 3 point line (or at least the blue circle underneath covering the line) to be more accurate.
