top players' scoring drops after first season; solution?

Postby mcbiggins on Sat Jan 17, 2004 4:47 pm

After the first season in dynasty mode, guys like kobe and lebron go from 20 something points a game to the mid-teens, but their ratings remain high. Every season after their numbers seem to be steady. Guys who are supposed to be big scores just aren't. I'd like to find a way around this. Has anybody figured out a solution? I recall back when the game first came out somebody mentioned that the game wrongly thought of taller guards like lebron, kobe, and tmac as big men, not wing players, and that this might have something to do with it.

I haven't found a solution; it doesn't seem to be related to the ratings (which as you noted, remain high) or the sliders. It's a problem with the simulation engine.

The problem is that the next season for some reason the engine lowers player's primacy ratings....
For example one time I had Kobe at 60 after my first season...
I checked many of the star players and to my surprise most of their Primacy ratings were lowered...

hence why they don't score often anymore

Yeah that is the way to fix it, i just go into the DBF editor and change thier Primacy...............

Still i dont think its that good, because T-Mac with his primacy rating at 99 and his FG and 3PT at 100 ( I looked in the DBF and this was what it was at, on one occasion in a second season) and he still only averaged 28ppg approx.

Yet i played with PP's ratings one time b4 a dynasty and simmed the first season and he averaged 39ppg with 95 FG 95 3PT and 99 FT, Primacy bout 87. Weird Huh?

Also, try using DBF editor to lower the CAREERPKG letter down. Notice tht rookies have CAREERPKG of A, B, or C, while 10 year vets have a F. The higher the letter, the older the players seem to get. Hence, the decline in scoring.

The only way is to do it through the Player.dbf file, its pretty simple though. DB Commander is a good program to use.

Needless to say, if you're using a console version, there's not much you can do.
