v1.03 released...

It's not as soon as I would have liked, but I've released a new version of the current roster update for NBA Live 2004, which you can download here.

NEW IN THIS VERSION:
- 2003/2004 Rosters, updated through January 10th, 2004
- Player data and ratings updated
- Player ratings and positions updated for better substitution patterns
- Player ratings updated for better simulated performance
- 1996 Chicago Bulls added
- 1992 Dream Team added (uses 90s All-Stars art)
- 1986 Boston Celtics added
- Troubleshooting section added to UPDATE.TXT

Some bad news about the special teams:

Ben has informed me that there is no workaround for the problem Superman described (crashes with more than 4 custom teams). This means I'll only be able to add one more special team to the next roster. I was thinking one of the Laker teams from the 80s - suggestions welcome.

I'm having problems installing this particular version of the roster patch. I run the program but when I go check the saves folder I only see the 000 and 001 folder remaining from 1.02 instead of 000, 001, and 002. I didn't change any of the settings or the folder directory path when installing. I've never had problems installing any previous patches. I used win 98.

I've noticed that the blue installation bar runs to about 3/4 of the length
and then moves to the next screen and it says installation has been completed.

Any suggestions?

Oh forget it i figured it out.

The path is the correct path for Win 2000 but not for win 98 bc it installs to documents and setting folder.

Am I the only one who doesnt have Marbury on the Knicks. I installed the patch, in the saves folder it had the 3 files, I went to the Knicks team hoping to see Marbury there, but he wasnt.

The 3 files also overwrote my dynasty saves ;(

Marbury is definitely in New York - if the patch is installed correctly, there should be no problems. Of course, if you load the Opening Night rosters, he'll be in Phoenix. But NLSC0304 and 0304UNINJURED are both up to date, including the Knicks/Suns trade.

Sure - send it to andrew@nba-live.com. The only condition of hosting files on the NLSC's server is that you allow me to list the patch in the Downloads section (credited to you, of course).

EDIT: Sorry, I can't host that patch. If you don't have the original authors' permission to re-release their work, then it's frowned upon to ignore their wishes.

There must have been an error when you downloaded the zip file. The .zip file is definitely not empy; there should be two files, install.exe and update.txt.

I didn't change as many ratings in this update as I did in v1.02. Nick has already suggested some ratings changes which will be present in v1.04. Any suggestions are most welcome.

Could you raise Kirk Hinrick's defensive awareness? In real life his defense is pretty good but in the Live his ratings don't reflect that.

i just tried to play the 86 Celtics against the Whatever Bulls that you put (i 4 got the year) and it crashes when it gets to the jersey sellection, please help

I've probably made an error with the ISUNLOCKED code for those two teams. If you haven't unlocked the 86 Celtics' jerseys or the Bulls' 95/96 Alternate Jersey, the game will crash. I'll fix that up in v1.04, thanks for the bug report.

hey andrew, you might be able to change a few of sam dalembert's ratings that won't affect the sim stats much. his quickness seems to be a little higher than the rating, and his def. awareness might be a little better. still too early for much that affects stat production but he seems to be playing a bit more actively now than his default ratings reflect in the game.
