How the heck do I shoot a hook shot.

Jermaine O'Neal just hooked the hell out of me. You can't stop that stupid shot. I tried doubling with Tim Duncan and Nesterovic. He just laughed in my face.

How do I return the favor? I tried using the same 2-button combo (post-up and shoot) as NBA 2003 but it doesn't work. All I can get is that stupid gimpy "death sequence animation" chuck shot.

lol, That's how Kareem Abdul-Jabbar became a real basketball player and a legend. I didn't even know that Jermaine O'Neal shot hook shots........ These days, it is not a common sight in the NBA, because Centers like Shaq are big dunkers, and not real big shooters.

Stupid hook shots

Postby JL2 on Mon Jan 05, 2004 1:29 pm

The hook shot is so arbitrary though. You have to be in the right position to do it. In 2003, you could do it from anywhere within 10 feet or so.

When I do it in '04, I sometimes get a) pump chuck, b) one-handed fade left/right chuck, or c) straight up turn around jumper. Terrible. The computer does it to me all the time though and at will. I don't want to have to take it like a b*tch.

Figured it out

Thanks to the info from the other posters.

In 2003, you simply pressed post up and shoot. Here, you press post up and shoot except you have to start pressing the post up button, don't let go, and then press shoot.

2003 is much more user friendly.

Aye. Still an ugly shot, not a full extension sky-hook like Kareem. More like a jumpshot with one hand, from the side.
