How To Get Bobcats Into Season

It seems lots of people are trying to get the Charlotte Bobcats into Dynasty/Season mode, well i just figured out a way to get them into SEASON but when i try to put them in Dynasty, it crashes
to get them in SEASON simply do this-

1) get a "DB Command Editor" and in one of your saves (the 1 your gonna use the rosters for)
2) open "teams.DBF"
3) go all the way down untill you see the Bobcats,
5) go to the right untill you see "TEAMCODE"
6) Change it from "7" to "4"
7) Exit the DBC Editor,
8) Fire Up NBA Live,
9) Load Your Rosters that You Edited
10) Go into Season,
11) Place Charlote into one of the empty spots in 1 of the divisions
12) There ya go

If i figure out how to get them into Dynasty, i shall let you know

Have you tried by changing also seed/conference/division... values in the teams file... What I do for testing it is:

-Swap a team (ie new orleans) with charlotte by overwriting values (just team code/name/abbrev/code) and see what happens.

You should be able to see CHA in dynasty and NO as new team...

- If this is working use a division 1 team record with CHA description and you should be able to see CHA in that empty slot you mentioned

- And only then customize your conferences

Yes and no.

Yes, if you replace an existing team. No, if you want 30 teams in Dynasty Mode. Dynasty Mode only supports 29 teams.

I'm new here... anyway I've tried to add the Bobcats team to a dynasty mode... the problem is that the game (NBA Live 2004) only generates dynasty games for 29 teams... that's why I think you'll have to repalce any of the existing 29 team in exchange for the Bobcats team... You can enter the dynasty mode but up to the Training camp only... once the training camp ends... the game will only generate games for only 29 teams (the original teams) none for the Charlotte Bobcats team... the game will then crash to desktop... anyway... if you want to try what i've did...

1. Launch the game... then load the updated roster, which you have been downloaded here in NLSC...
2. Make some roster changes... for the Bobcats team (signing free agents from the free agents list will do...)
3. Save the roster to a new file... do not overwrite the updated one...
4. Exit the game...
5. Using a DBF editor.... edit the teams dbf...
6. Search for the Bobcats team... 40th or 53rd from the list I think...
7. Don't mess with the team ID...
8. Change the team code to zero (0) to make it an NBA team...
9. Place it to the Eastern Conference... Central...
10 This is optional.... I transfered the New Orleans Hornets to the Western Conference since next year they will... I put them to the Pacific Division...
11. Make the Charlotte Bobcats team the 15th seed in the east...
12. Edit the other eastern teams seedings... (1-14)
13. Make the Charlotte Bobcats team "In Season" field to 1
14. Leave the "In Playoffs" field to 0
15. You can also try to add some data on the GP... PPG... etc...
16. Save and Exit the DBF editor....
17. Play the game...
18. Create a new dynasty... choose any team....
19. Now as I've said earlier... the game will then continue up to the Training Camp phase.... after that... the game will crash...

I've heard rumors that there is a code for the Bobcats on PS2. Once and for all, is this true? On various message boards, I've just seen people say it but don't post a code or anything so I figure it's just BS. What's the good word?

yeah i heard you have to enter "WHODAT?" and it works, it doesnt work on mine

That code is false. There isn't any way to get the Bobcats into Dynasty or Season Mode in the console versions.

I did some dbf. editing... It has to do something about the dbf. files...
I edited the teams.dbf and the SEASONS.dbf (short season)... made the Charlotte Bobcats the 30th team (29 in teamnum)... then generated short dynasty games using the schedule for the Chicago Bulls... (repaced the teams game date)... but to no avail... the dynasty won't go with the CHA team in.... as I've said it has something to do about dbf. editing... someone has to try editing the schedules.dbf. we all have to try...

If you're using 29 as Charlotte's TEAMID, then the game will crash. 29 is the Free Agents pool. You'd have to use appropriate TEAMID.

How do you remove a team to make room for the bobcats in dynasty?

Change the TEAMCODE and switch TEAMIDs so that the Bobcats show up on the schedule.

i kinda got em in. I got to the point where you see the magazien cover after the training camp in dynasty mode wit bobcats. but when you check the schedule, theres only one game and dats da allstar game in february. SO when u click on next game it jus crashes to the desktop. What idid was i switched everything for the bobcats wit hthe utah jazz in team.dbf. so utah was gone and bobcats were in. If sum1 could find out how to edit the schedule then we would have them in dynasty mode. Just thought i wud post it in here.

Easiest way will be to start a new *season* with Bobcats replacing the Jazz. Save the season and copy paste schedule file from there to your dynasty.

Just to note, a few people actually suceeded that before, it's just impossible to increase the number of teams that can fit into dynasty mode.

Awesome...that's cool that we're making progress on this...ONE QUESTION though: Is it possible to add the Bobcats, in Mid Dynasty as I'm now on Season 3? Of course I can always try and just do a backup, but if someone already knows the answer...more power to us all!

I really want to play a season with the Bobcats and haven't found any info other than this on how to do that. I'm a gamer but have never done any web downloading rosters or codes etc. Can you explain to me what the DB command editor is and how to use it?

yea no prob, the DB Command Editor edits saved games. The default place for your saved rosters are, My Documents>NBA LIVE 2004>Saves
you basically just open DB Command Editor, then open in the save folder (ie- 000, 001, etc) then you open up "TEAMS.dbf" then just do what i said.
