Shoot buttons

Since the game is so defensive, it is quite hard to score in jump shots just by pressing the shoot button. I wonder whether it exists any way to make the shoots more stable (scoring) ? for instance do I have to press any auxiliar button while pressing and holding the shoot button at the same time?(like pro hop /power dribble or backdown button)..thanx for answering...I suppose there must be a solution to this.

In addition to timing the release of the shoot button so that your player is at the top of his jump, I've found that the turbo button has aided in shooting, from NBA Live 95 to NBA Live 2004. I'm pretty sure it's part of the game, though I guess it could be just psychological.
