Configure custom controls on PS2?

Is it possible to change the controls to a custom control because there is only 2 settings of that nature makes hard to play

I don't think so and that kind of sucks. I'm new to this whole free style(got the game for Cristmas for PS2 ) crap ( I had 2002 but skipped '03) and it is a bit annoying, you really gotta work yout thumbs now with the freestyle control to do crossovers and move, then shoot all so fast.
