NBA Dynasty roster patch ?

Postby BC1331 on Fri Dec 19, 2003 12:45 pm

After having played and been the GM of the Pacers and the bucks till 2009, i wondered is there a roster patch out there that allows you to say start in 1990 and then go on till today but then at the draft time of that year have the actual real rookies then and draft em... but depends where you end to whom you choice...

like 91 Have Larry Johnson
and 98 have Peirce and Nowski

is that possable does it excist allready if it doesen't can it be made ?

coz i love being a GM but i really don't like all this... no 74 scores stuff

It is possible to make roster patches for older seasons, however we haven't discovered a way to start a Franchise in an earlier year (ie have the game recognise the current season as 1990/91).

Also, it is no longer possible to place rookies in the DBF to be drafted at the end of the first season. The game clears the database of all players except those on NBA teams and in the free agent pool when you start a new Dynasty. You can add rookies yourself before you advance to the next season, but they cannot be added to a roster patch as they will just be wiped when you start a new Dynasty game.

Yeah but player.dbfs could be made for each years rookies, and if we just use existing players, they should say the last names. So if the was a dbf for the 91 rookies you would just insert it at the end of the previous season. The game wouldnt start in that year but i would be fun. I would try to start something, but i dont have a clue who was in which year, and you wud want to get at least enough players for two rnds.

You would also have the problem of all the computer generated players, or is there a way to stop them other than just deleting them.

I would be interested in working on a set of Dbf's if anyone else is.

You would lose season data, as well as having the generated rookies. It could be done, but chances are you would mess up your Dynasty game.

Im more thinking about starting a new Dynasty say with 90's rosters, then each new season haveing real players in the draft, but that wudnt be that good cos, as we've said the generated rookies would be there and i havent seen a way to delete them before hand.

Unless everyone is willing to put the rookies in the game themselves at the end of the season, it isn't possible.

That's true, for most people it's not that hard. But it's not as convenient as the old method of inserting rookies into the draft pool via a roster patch.

chipper is working on a 1990/91 roster patch. Once I do some more work on the Live 2004 current roster update, I'll start on the old season rosters (working backwards from the current season).

You should start from 1991 and work your way up, Andrew.
Because nobody likes 'previous season' rosters, they're pretty much the same teams except a little out of date.

1996 would be my year or prefrence for a roster. (Y) I want to be able to play with Jordan's Bulls' against Barkley's Suns or Johnson's Lakers or Shaq's Magic. (Y)

This time, I'm determined to get back to 95/96 though. If I have nothing better to do (such as work ), I might spend a couple of days on old season rosters once I've done some more work on the current roster update.

Cheers guys, i diden't expect this much of a reply, awesome stuff well it's cool to know more people are thinking along these lines

as it'd be sweet to play against the dynistys of the 90's instead of the 00's

i'd love to play against the vintage bulls and suns, not just in a one off but as a whole season and then do some tradin to pick up Paul Pearce or dirk ;)

i might have to look at giving it a try then... i'm sure everyone who's intrested woulden't mind putting the rooks in each year, i know i sure as hell don't mind.... it'd be part of the fun...
