>> Silly automatic computer lineup

In my dynasty with the Mavs I had to play last night against Philadelphia. There I noticed something very comical.

The two Centers of Philadelphia, Dalembert and McCaskill both were injured. But not as expected Derrick Coleman, who had 1st PF and 2nd C, started at Center, but Kenny Thomas did, who had 1st position PF and 2nd SF, did. Coleman startet PF. In real it would have not been so. I had noticed this "bug" in Live 03 last year too.

Is there a way to change this?

HUH, I had a PF who was a SF but started at SG then my PG started at C but was really only a PF, C started at SF when he should have been PF then my SG started at C when he should have been PG, MY 6th man started at SG (sitting gaurd). :?

I started a season with the Knicks. I signed myself off of the free agents for fun, so I had to re-arrange my roster. The computer decided that Kurt Thomas was the starting center without my noticing it. Weird.

How about Zoran Planinic of the Nets being listed as a SF? The guy is a PG!

You can change all these... It really does not matter...

I think the AI is pretty smart this time around. In Live 2003 it wasn't uncommon for a team to have two 90+ overall guys on the same position (let's say power forward, like Duncan and Webber), then they would have overall 70 center (let's say Greg Ostertag)... And the AI would not change the lineup! That was way more dumber then starting Kenny Thomas at center... He plays the PF, but we all know DC would be starting center and Thomas would be PF, but it ain't so easy telling that to the AI, when the AI has to deal with this situation with each and every lineup.

So I would say starting the back up Power Forward is pretty darn smart. 2003 would start a crappy overall 60 center and wouldn't even consider putting a PF on the center slot.

2004 is a lot smarter that way...

Yeah of course I agree you. The automatic lineup has improved, no question! But I think it shouldn't have been so difficult, to let the 2nd position have a influence on the lineup!

They took it out for NBA Live 2003... The new team has pretty much built this product up from the start so there are some features that always take a hit in that kind of a process. So this was one of them. It is better now, and I believe it will improve more as they get more releases under their belt.

Live 2004 is the only the third full release of this new creator team and only second for pc, so these kinds of things should be expected.

I just hope they will build on Live 2004 for next year. There's a lot of good in there, but also some things that just are not seen in an NBA game.
