Custom teams. Half made?

Postby Yao7x on Tue Dec 02, 2003 12:10 pm

Hi, I looked into my EAgraphics Editor, and noticed some custom coach faces. And in dbf too, some stuff about custom arenas. So I really think that EA planned to make custom teams this year, but did not have time. If anybody that has connections to anybody that made live 2004, or better yet, if anybody in live 2004 is reading this, I will get down on my knees and beg: "PLEASE SEND OUT A PATCH FOR LIVE 2004 SO U COULD ADD CUSTOM TEAMS!!!!!PLEASE!!!!"

I doubt EA will release a patch like that. However, the presence of those files might make it a little easier to add better custom teams through DBF editing. It won't be like the old custom team feature where each user can assign their players, but it might mean some cool add-ons in roster patches and the like.

Yea, EA is way too lazy. They think they can just put out a game and go rest the rest of the year.

I don't think it's a case of laziness. They have no obligation to put out a patch that adds a whole new feature.

I want custom teams as much as the next person, but I don't think EA "should" release a patch that adds a whole new feature. A patch that fixes some of the Dynasty issues would be nice, but you don't usually get new features outside of expansion packs - and they aren't free.

Yea, if they did, it might cost. But EA owes the Live community that much. Screwing up live 2001, not even bothering with live 2002, NBA Jamming Live 2003, it did a considerable amount of damage to their rep

I don't really want to get into another debate about EA's attitude towards the community, so we'll just have to agree to disagree there. But on the subject of custom teams, I'm interested in these additional art and custom team DBF files. It's something that I and other patchmakers will have to explore further.

EA does not have the time to patch up their games... They promised to do a big time update to Live 2001 and I didn't see it???

But what really matters is that they only have a year to pull another rabbit out of their hats that will make us all salivate after another Live game... And it ain't easy! The next live is forming as we speak. They are probably well on the way of designing the thing, now that they've had a couple of weeks off.

Andrew, should we start up the good-ol wishlist? Cause we need to send it early if we want anything big into next years game! And just maybe they would listen to us... To some extent...

The wishlist has more or less started, with the "official" post over in the Wishlist forum.

Seriously... You actually believe EA is actually gonna care about us? They're most likely gonna do the opposite over and over and over and over and over again. If they don't have custom teams for live 2005... Oh man...

If you compare the yearly wishlists to what has been added to the game over the years, you'll find quite a lot of our wishes have made it into the game.

I'm sure EA meant to implement custom teams but couldn't finish. PC Users can go into the console and change the front end resolution with the command "ren_setres width height bpp" like "ren_setres 1280 1024 32". From there you will see the menu shrink abit to the top left corner, then you will be able to see the hidden and unaccessible options like Create Custom Team or Custom Team List which are in the Roster Management screen there's also a hidden Anti-Aliasing setting in the Detail Settings screen and an Audio Mode and Audio Commentary Language in the Preferences menu. These hidden options aren't accessible because you can't move the cursor down on to the options, plus some obviously weren't implemented.

I don't know what EA is thinking, but if they saw the forums over the previous years of live 2001 and 2003, PC Users complaining about no custom teams, I wouldn't have minded the wait so they could get custom teams done. I am sure that others wouldn't mind either, because if they added custom teams, I am sure they would've added more than that, probably a few extra shoes maybe.
