The Fassbreak Issue

Mon Dec 01, 2003 10:32 am

Hi there!

I know, there are some threads and postings out there, which belongs to my topic, but I have several questions regarding to how to prevent fastbreaks. Please help me

I know only one (1 !!) thing for sure. Scoring prevents fastbreaks :?

But I don't want to shoot >60% from field, don't want to prohoop everytime, don't want to ignore my shooters (no, they could miss  ), if i'm trailing...

So please, please tell me important sliders (I use Andrew's with some adaptions to my skill and game), tactics and plays for my team and my opponent. Tell me if I have to change other options (double team, pressure) or if I have to use defensive quick plays.

At the moment I use high pressure on PG, change offensive tactic from dynamic to box/motion etc. and try to get back urgently with my fastest mate (which implicates really disadvantage for a possible off-rebound, so I grab 1-5 in a 12min/q-game). Sometimes I foul intentional...

Fastbreaks are killing my game, because they force me to score. And Wally is crying a river, while I don't allow him to shoot. Poor Wally!

Thanks in advance
a howling wolf

Try dropping down the freestyle effectiveness slider. Some people have reported this having an effect on fastbreaks.

Don't crash boards as that brings your players in and try using the Man-to-Man defense (not the Half Court or Full Court, but the regular Man-to-Man) and turboing. It appears your teammates will also turbo if you do, this helps since the cpu turbos on fast breaks.

Keep a man between the ball handler and the basket to prevent him from going to the basket. I've noticed that when the ball handler drives to the basket (not prohopping) if theres a defender between him and the basket, he will pass it back out.

or

Take good shots within the offense so the opponent doesn't fast break.

Doing the above will minimize fast breaks but the computer will still fast break on some missed shots.

I am playing superstar using default sliders.

Thank you guys. I will try this and hope that the cpu will not fast break every time. :)

In addition, you should call to control your last man back just after missing a shot. There is a button for it.

YOU must slow the game speed down to below 20.. for realism this allows you to get back 95% of the time after a TO or long rebound where the CPU then always tries to break.. if you meet them b4 they get to the 3 point line they often stop and setup on All Star level

I down my freestyle efectiviness slider to 5, thats make the game harder. I was winning all my games of 50 with andrews sliders in the higher level  . Now i lose sometimes wich is cool!!

Does this really work? I'll try it, cause I am getting sick and tired of those fast breaks man. And I hate that turboing. I don't have a turbo-button on my back, so how come Joe Slowafoot is able to make up 5 yards on Speedy Gonzalez? That's really the only complaint I have.

Well, that and the fact that I went 0-28 on free throws in my first game. Oops, guess I have to practice. Never had any trouble on the previous versions.
