DBF Patching question

when playing exhibition games which folder does the game use as far as dbf's go: originaldb, workingdb, or currentdb? The reason I ask is because there is a shoesacc.dbf in there that allows you to add more shoes to the game. I want to know which one needs to be altered in order for a patch to work. I've already done this using the shoesacc.dbf that is in the saves folder of my dynasty but for roster's those files are not present.

but if you do reset rosters then you'd have to edit it again or just copy the one you've edited from currentdb to the originaldb...
