How do you intentionally foul a player?

I miss the days when you could just shove a player straight into the stand or knock him on his gluteus maximus while he's going for a dunk... but I have no clue how to foul a player in the dying seconds when I'm behind by 1 point and there is 20 seconds left

Hit the play call button if I'm not mistaken, on defense it'll foul the cpu and on offense it'll call a time out. Btw, do a search before you post, these questions and others have been addressed before. Thnx.
