Player lock issues

I'm not sure if its like this on every team but I play with the Lakers. Basically I player lock on Kobe and I try to run mostly Inside Triangle plays with some Pick and Rolls and backdoor cutting plays but the other computer controlled players seem to just pass the ball around the perimeter and never drop it in to like Shaq or Malone. Only on the Post Up play do they actually pass it down low. They also seem to hold the ball until the shot clock expires and never get back on transition defense. I've always played on Player lock but this years game gets a little frustrating. They never really shoot either unless I make them. Are there any sliders that can help with these issues?
