contesting shots

can you guys tell me which way is the best to cause the cpu to miss more shots? is it better to jump with the guys or use the right thumbstick up to raise hands? i mean the manual says that that is to contest the shot but how effective is it?

I have found jumping with them to be more effective, or even taking taking the charge.

Watch out though because jumping at them can lead to shooting fouls. Fouling on a 3-ptr hurts.
