The Minimum Specs for NBA Live 2004 PC

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Postby Little_Big_Man on Fri Oct 10, 2003 2:50 am

Without a sufficient amount of RAM your computer will use the page file which is basically space on your harddrive which is way too slow for certain applications especially games like these with extensive graphics. If your CPU is just around the minimum a RAM upgrade will be the most cost effective and will most likely allow you to play the game a lot better. Also defragging your drive will help out too. The 128MB Radeon 8500 is a smoking video card. Its cheaper than the newer Radeon Cards and actually outperforms them on tests. I run Madden 2004 at 1024x768x16bit and it runs very smoothly. The same with Live 2003.

My PC Specs:
Pentium IV 2.26GHz
256MB DDR PC2100 (I need to upgrade)
180G 7200rpm WD
128MB DDR ATI Radeon 8500 Video Card
Thrustmaster Power 2 Dual Analog GamePad

My computer

Postby Leander on Fri Oct 10, 2003 3:40 am

I got a PIII 866 mhz, 256 RAM, 32 MB Nvidia TNT 2...

NBA Live 2003 worked well at medium details but not on higher ones...so there is no chance for me to be able to run Live 2004...well, I could but with crowd switched off and sh... like that.

Anyways, I like 2003 with my tweaks and own rules concerning trades and so on, I'm in the second year of my franchise and what I like is playing lots of seasons and comparing the stats of a player from season to season...but not playing a few games and buying the new Live each year...

You could probably use a new graphics card, Ko8e4mvp. :P

Glad to hear I will be able to run this game. :D

I was just dreaming a little last night... and I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if game companies like tested the game on a whole bunch of different types of systems, and recorded the max settings possible to get "X" amount of framerates while still having half decent looking graphics? I mean they make the game so they would know what settings to tweak better than the end users. Especially because most users don't want to twiddleleedee with settings, they just wanna PLAY! (like on a console!) . They could then turn this into some sort of scan and have the settings automatically optimize. Or they could have some sort of online calculator that tells you your optimal settings. They could even do this after the game is released.

I know this is improbable; I mean the companies are busy enough as it is (hmm, maybe there could be some 3rd party company that just specializes in that and gets paid to do these tests). But wouldn't that be just awesome? It would definitely make me want to buy games more.

maybe next year, Live 2003 went perfectly over here with maximum details and 1024x768 pixels, so...maybe Live 2004 will run good aswell :P

err..no.
The Radeon 8500 128 can outperform most of the "newer" lower end Radeons (9000, 9100, 9200) only, since those ones use a scaled down version of the 8500 called the LE. Starting with the Radeon 9500non-pro and 9600non-pro the new chips start to be faster. Turn on AA and AF and the 8500 is left in the dust.

But I will admit, the 8500 was a pretty good card for the price at one time. :D

My specs are:
Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.60Ghz. (boo)
Abit KR7A-133R motherboard (via KT266A)
512mb PC2100
80gig IBM Deskstar
Radeon 9500pro @ 330/297
Logitech Wingman Rumblepad

Badly need new cpu, motherboard, ram.

I might be gettin' a new CPU thingie :D. "PIII 1.0 Ghz 133 FBS". Tell me, is this a good thing? will it actually make the computer faster...i find it hard to believe...but i don't know shit. Wont somebody please reassure me?

hehe

No it's not a good thing, since it's a P3 and only 1.0Ghz. But yes it may be faster, depending on what you currently have.
As of right now, nobody should be buying a new cpu that's under 2.0Ghz unless you're getting it for free or VERY cheap. That is entry-level now. If you're strapped for cash, I recommend going with AMD CPUs. Much better bang for the buck than Intel. An equivalent 2.0Ghz cpu is only $75USD now.

I have a 32 mb NVIDIA nforce 220 graphic card, and well i dont know a ton bout computers but my bro does and i know he had wanted to upgrade it fora bit, but i know that in madden 2004 i can run about 90pct of things at the fullest, if i put all of em full it crashes occasionaly, so i was wondering if u think i'll be able to run Live at the fullest (i could run all live 2003 graphics at the max)

Comp specs:

2000+ (1.67 GHz) AMD Athlon XP processor
256 MB DDR (dou8ble data rate) SDRAM Memory
60 GB (And i've already used 58 of em :?)
32 mb NVIDIA nforce 220 graphic card

should live 2004 run fairly good on my comp, i dont want choppy shit lol

Can someone tell me how my system is?

I did some upgrades since 2003.

All i put in is what other people told me to, so im not really sure if it will have an effect.

Currently im running:

Pentium 4, 1.5Ghz
80GB Hard Drive
640Mb Ram
and a Radeon 9700 Pro

Last year I had basically the same just with 128 Mb Ram and a shittier video card.

Your system's great. It should handle NBA 2004 no problem at high settings (most likely). I'm at a P4 1.8 GHz, 80 GB Hard Drive, 512 MB RAM, and a GeForce 3 Ti2000. I can play NHL 2004 at pretty high settings without it being choppy. NBA Live shouldn't be a problem.

If Live needs a 32 mb graphic card...is it possible to play it with a 16 mb with toned down graphics obviously because my graphics chip is integrated into my laptop motherboard? Everything else I have is fine 256 RAM and P.4 1.4.

I don't have a new machine, yet.
I just buy things alone and put them together, not by general buying.

Why ?
